  1. Just to say if anyone needs picking up at Wolverhampton station I can give 4 people a lift
  2. I think Classical Gas must have been played as a new release before it was a hit because whenever I buy a collection off someone who was on the scene in the early days, there's always a copy of it in there
  3. I've had a couple - only sell it for £25
  4. I never mentioned any names anyway don't worry, someone just asked me how much postage was so things remain the same
  5. Heartbeat - Bill Pursell. Definitely one of his because I bought his emidisc off him as it had "Marching" on the other side!
  6. Second order I get in, someone asks what my address is...
  7. PETE SMITH 28 JENKS ROAD WOMBOURNE WOLVERHAMPTON WV5 0BL 01902 893569 Pete.smith@freeuk.com Hi I realise this is a weird time to be sending out a list but I've got to get everything done before Thursday really as it's my mates funeral so I thought if I do the list early it would give me a chance to get everything sorted. Thanks so much to everyone who sent messages of sympathy for Paul, I've collected everything up for his parents. Also thanks for the donations for those albums last week, most offers were very fair and I took them. The guy who offered 15 quid for a 75 quid album is not on the list any more! Also if anyone needs a lift to the funeral on Thursday - from Wolverhampton station for instance - I'd be happy to pick them up. Right anyway some nice Northern rarities here PLUS a very unusual one for me, some 70's and crossover things as well. Hope you find something of interest. I should be available tonight up to about 8 o clock and tomorrow from 10 til say 8 again. Oh one more thing - everyone who pays by card, streamline are now making me input the three digit code off the back of the card so I'll need that as well from now on Cheers Pete JIMMY SOUL CLARK - I'LL BE YOUR WINNER - SOUL HAWK VG+ 80 GENE VITO - UNDISCOVERED COUNTRY - DECCA DEMO EX 30 Little crack on the run on so reduced THE KNICKERBOCKERS - WISHFUL THINKING - CHALLENGE DEMO EX 75 JOHNNY DYNAMITE - THE NIGHT THE ANGELS CRIED - MINARET DEMO EX 75 CANDY & THE KISSES - TONIGHTS THE NIGHT - SCEPTER DEMO EX 80 TEDDY RANDAZZO - YOU DON'T NEED A HEART - DCP EX 125 FREDDIE HOUSTON - SOFT WALKIN - TOTO DEMO EX 100 BILLY STORM - EDUCATED FOOL - INFINITY DEMO VG+ 100 SHANE MARTIN - I NEED YOU - EPIC M- 100 LONNIE LESTER - YOU CAN'T GO - NU TONE EX 75 JOE TEX - I WANNA BE FREE - DIAL EX- 80 THE ARTISTICS - THIS HEART OF MINE - OKEH M- 80 DOROTHY BERRY - YOU BETTER WATCH OUT - PLANETARY M- 60 JACKIE LEE - DARKEST DAYS - ABC EX 80 THE TYN TYMES - BABY I LOVE YOU - MUSIC BOX EX 125 MARV JOHNSON - COME ON AND STOP - UA M 100 BILLY ECKSTINE - I WONDER WHY - MOTOWN M- 100 MARVIN SMITH - WHO WILL DO YOUR RUNNING NOW - MAYFIELD M- 125 THE DRAPERS - YOUR LOVE HAS GONE AWAY - GEE DEMO EX 125 AUGUST & DENEEN - WE GO TOGETHER - ABC DEMO EX 125 MICHAEL & RAYMOND - MAN WITHOUT A WOMAN - RCA DEMO M- 100 ESKEW REEDER - UNDECIDED LOVE - INSTANT EX 100 CLIFF NOBLES - MY LOVES GETTING STRONGER - ATLANTIC VG++ 125 THE SWEET THREE - BIG LOVERS COME IN SMALL PACKAGES - DECCA DEMO EX 100 JO ANN GARRETT - A WHOLE NEW PLAN - CHESS ISSUE EX 125 LENIS GUESS - JUST ASK ME - LEGRAND EX 60 JAMES BOUNTY - PROVE YOURSELF A LADY - COMPASS EX 125 JELLY BEANS - YOU DON'T MEAN ME NO GOOD - ESKEE DEMO M- 150 THE LOLLIPOPS - LOVING GOOD FEELING - IMPACT EX 125 THE MAGNIFICENTS - MY HEART IS CALLING - DEE GEE DEMO VG++ 125 MARSHA GEE - BABY I NEED YOU - UPTOWN M- 150 PAUL VARISCO - TELL ME WHERE LOVE GOES - KAPP DEMO EX 125 BARBARA MCNAIR - YOU'RE GONNA LOVE MY BABY - MOTOWN EX 150 VICTOR KNIGHT - CHINA TOWN - RON CRISS M 125 ROY HAMILTON - CRACKIN UP OVER YOU - RCA DEMO EX 175 THE DYNAMICS - I NEED YOUR LOVE - RCA DEMO EX 175 DAVE NEWMAN - MAKE UP YOUR MIND - LOOK DEMO EX 125 VALA REEGAN - FIRE MAN - ATCO DEMO VG++ 180 THE VEL VETS - I GOT TO FIND ME SOMEBODY - 20TH CENTURY EX 175 (nasty looking scratch near the end - only audible on the last 5 seconds of the fadeout) Some Late Arrivals & Odds and Ends THE PARLIAMENTS - DON'T BE SORE AT ME - REVILOT EX 15 CHRISTINE KITTRELL - CALL HIS NAME - FEDERAL EX- 15 LITTLE MILTON - SOMETIMEY - CHECKER M- 15 PAT PETERMAN - LOVE THE WAY YOU DO YOUR THING - 123 DEMO VG+ 15 LITTLE EVA - TAKIN' BACK WHAT I SAID - DIMNENSION DEMO VG+ 25 KIM TOLLIVER - I GOTTA FIND A WAY - ROJAC DEMO M- 25 THE WANTED - IN THE MIDNIGHT HOUR - THE DETROIT SOUND VG++ 25 JO ANN KING - LET THEM LOVE AND BE LOVED - FAIRMOUNT DEMO EX- 25 THE ENCHANTERS - YOU WERE MEANT TO BE MY BABY - LOMA DEMO EX 30 THE SOUL CITY - EVERYBODY DANCE NOW - GOODTIME EX 30 KATHY & THE CALENDARS - PLEASE DON'T GO - PORT VG++ 30 THE VALADIERS - I FOUND A GIRL - CANADIAN TAMLA EX+ 40 FREDDIE HOUSTON - SOFT WALKIN' - TOTO VG++ 50 THE MIRACLES - IF YOUR MOTHER ONLY KNEW - CANADIAN TAMLA M 50 THERESA LINDSAY - IT'S LOVE - CORREC-TONE EX- 125 LIZ LANDS - MIDNIGHT JOHNNY - GORDY EX 75 PERCY WIGGINS - IT DIDN'T TAKE MUCH - RCA BLACK ISSUE! Carstairs version is faster than Jimmy Ruffins, you thinking of the right record?
  9. I asked that guy a question which hasn't appeared on the advert and it was basically, all but one of those records are pressings, is the rest of the collection made up of the same sort of thing. He did reply so fair play to him. Said he didn't know.

Had one of those on my list last week...not a bit of interest. And it's far better than the Jimmy Ruffin version.
  11. I haven't got any mates so I don't have this problem...
  12. James Bynum - Time passes by - brilliant...(actually I would have played this regularly but haven't had one for years til recently so not exactly a never play record)
  13. I just played "Elusive" by Babe Ruth (the UK version) - apart from the horrible rock guitar solo at the end, this sounds great as well! Can remember the floor at Wigan vibrating to this in early 1976. Take away the rock connotations and it's a great little record.
  14. Blimey, I wasn't expecting one person to agree with me let alone two! Something else I meant to mention about Ian's early attempts at songwriting, notice how he keep slipping the titles of other records into the lyrics e.g. Please don't run from me, My world is on fire, Ton of dynamite...probably loads more..

  16. So decided to do a cd of records that I never, ever play...ones that just sit there neglected, like for instance Kim Tolliver - I don't know what foot to dance on...that sort of thing. Anyway I just played one that Ian did just after Weak Spot and Doomsday, "Running in another direction" by Barbara Pennington. You know what, it's brilliant! Has a fantastic string arrangement too. It's not as good as "24 hours a day" which truly is a great record but it might be worth giving it a listen, really enjoyed it.
  17. Apology unreservedly accepted Sorry I wasn't keen on that take of Little Ann (sorry) and the instrumental version still hasn't appeared I don't think. I promise I will listen to it again. The booklet was great though!

Astor is an Australian label isn't it?
  19. Whoah hold it there mister C. I've bought more Kent product than any other label and I still buy them now (when I can't blag them). I must have most of the cd releases. I'm just going through my mates Kent lp's now doing a few compilations for the car (mine have all gone). I enjoy 90% of them, the only one I've thought really poor and have a problem with was Dave Hamilton volume 3. All filler. So apart from that, got no problem, never had a problem, but the RCA compilations - great as they were - I thought were held together by the inclusion of the already established tracks. It was a serious question about the titles by the way.
  20. These and the Grapevine demos aren't really promotional copies as far as I can see, they are a promotional gimmick to sell more copies of the promo, if something is limited then more people want it. Like if there were 100 copies of this and only two were pressed on blue vinyl, those two would be more collectable than the black vinyl ones. If they were real promos they would be given away to people who would play them out and drum up more interest. Or of course to people like myself who could play them to anyone who rang and tell them it's a must buy item
  21. Like I said, none of those are better than tracks released on those actual artists - Change Your Ways, Since I Found My baby, Could It Be You, etc - didn't say they were bad, just no better than what actually came out
  22. Are these the tracks that Dave Flynn used to play?
