Here the original, a USA production i think ?
Whats that got to do with anything, anyway Evie Sands is the original isn't it?
Just to clear things up, are you saying the Timi Yuro hasthe same backing as various versions of Take Me For A Little While, cos if you are, I agree, I just don't agree that it uses the Stevie Lewis one in particular.

What is the backing track from ?
stevie lewis - take me for a little while - mercury
Similar but not the same backing track Ken - the Stevie Lewis record is a year later anyway I think

Jet Star was the distribution arm of Mr P's empire and eventually the Jet Star label and overall distribution became the main areas of business for the company especially with their compilation albums throughout the 80's and 90's.
Ian D
But it had nothing to do with the company in the period that we are talking about, try and find out the first mention of Jetstar distribution.

Anyone got a ball park figure for this on original UK red/white Island?
Cheers
Mick
I'd advise you to put it on ebay where they pay silly money for it. I sold my last one for £150 (which I think is the right price) but I was very surprised that I couldn't even get £175 for the French EP with the duet version on it.

Anyone give me a ball park figure for the following please
Don't Call Me Daddy - Derrick Morgan - UK Ska Beat
Ten Commandments - Prince Buster - US Phillips
Big Five/Musical College - Prince Buster - UK? Prince Buster
Cheers
Mick
Derrick Morgan £20, the two others very common, £5 for Ten Commandments and sadly even less for Big Five. The latter must be one of the most repressed records ever, on UK there are at least 6 different pressings, none worth more than the other.

Hi All...I know what I'm gonna say about the Ringleaders, one of my all time greats! as I have said it 4 times already, my last copy tat I got from Dave Shaw for £3 I sold to TOP Midlands Collector DJ TED M for £6, he was happy and I was blocked & p**said. great record Demo are hard,SOUL BOWL copy if I remember right was £2.50 in early 76 it was much rarer in 73, and I cant place where or who used to play it as it was not until the mid 80's that the demand was there for it and in the 90's the prices went silly,
Writing about it again makes me want it again anyone got a copy for swapping, don't do money no more as I ain't got any??
DAVE KIL
Soul BOwl supplied them all to outlets like Pep's, he sold them for £3 each and we presumed they were represses at the time, in fact I've had people sell me collections with this and John Bowie in and I've had to tell them that they are not pressings and are worth considerably more than the £3 we [aid for them in 77. I bought Mr Searlings copy off him at Wigan incidentally, he must have had a reading problem at the time as on the sleeve he'd written the artist name as The Ringmasters. Of course 2 weeks later, it was everywhere.

The Volumes on Pama question sparked off a vague recollection of something I had seen before. So after sorting through musty old fanzines in my loft I found this.It is from ''Shades of Soul'' April 1986 and shows a photo copy of the record owned by T.Weal of Sheffield.
No further comment from me over to you lot.........
Rick
That's right T. Weal as in T. Wheel, when I reprinted that in Beatin Rhythm magazine in 1990 and said it was a mock-up, I got a reply from a Mr G. Torch!

Hello everyone
I am trying to create a screensaver gallery of Kent and other northern soul LP compilations which trigger so many great memories. I've got a fair number but I wonder if anyone knows of any collections of scans already done? I'd like to do all the Kent vinyl, 'Keeping The Faith', 'Out On The Floor', 'Goldsoul' etc compilations of the late 1970s onwards prior to the CD age.
Any thoughts or pointers welcome.
Many thanks
cheers
Mark
Don't know if there are any already out there Mark but you can get an endless stream of scans from ebay.

confirmation then, that the u.s. demo is in issue format.....so definitelty came along too late to be revered as a white demo....so did white demo's cease as a format after, say, 1966?. there dosnt appear to be a british demo in existance then?, unless tony or mick smith can provide an answer, but surprised and nice at the same time, to see a solid centre uk copy
No I don't think they stopped them, I've got one or two Chess WD's that must be post 66 (Andrea Davis is one), but some of them appear as both WD's and DJ COPY demos I think

I used to deal with Domar as well when I was a young soulie in the making. Would go through his lists and high light anything that sounded good. On conversations with the man I found we had similar tastes in old horror movies. So as I had a shit load of movies unavailable at the time on VHS struck a deal with him for something like £800 swaps. The first load of two movies on each of the 40! cassettes went well and I got my stuff. On sending the second batch of the same - he called me up saying he didn't like some of the quality and stiffed me for the rest!!! The fekker - though I did get the Chandlers Your Love Make Me Lonely in the first batch for £40 and I think George Tindley - Aint Gonna Worry - which alas has since been stolen.... but that's another story lol
I bet I ended up with all of those films!

I was at a record fair and all the records were priced quite cheaply and had '1', '2', 5', etc on them, then I came to a mint 12" of this and it had '50' on it. I was interested in the record and pulled out a few other bits as well and was chatting to the guy a little and picked the blair 12" up and said 'I'd quite like this really...' to which he replied...
'that's 50 pence then please'
So I obviously paid him for it immediately, he wrote the sale in a notepad with the price and I strolled off to the next stall.
I then overheard him saying to someone else who was trying to barter with him about how they were his mates records and his mate had gone to get a sandwich and would be back soon so he could talk to him then about a deal.
About 10 mins later i'm on the other side of the room just about to walk out, and I glanced over to where he was in the corner and I could see some red-faced bloke with a notepad in his hand, waving it around then holding his head in his hands whilst appearing to be shouting at the guy i'd bought the record off...
which led me to a moral decision... do I go and hand the record back...
what would you have done?
Sutty
Hit myself over the head with a mallet for buying such rubbish in the first place...
(and then probably left them to it - their mistake, not yours)

Marge Dodson - Bricks, Broken Bottles And Sticks
in Look At Your Box

is this version known? Sounds a lot later than Dean Parrish's version. Never heard of the label, International Concepts, they forgot to print the artist name as well, Marge Dodson is stamped on along with "Professional Copy Not For Sale"
