this one has a bit of crackle at the start and writing on the label
MIKE ANCONA & THE JOKERS - BOUND FOR LOVE - CHASE EX 75
Bit of a mystery record here. I think it's a blue eyed soul effort from either Texas or New Orleans and the group is supposedly the same ones who did "Soul Sound" but this doesn't appear in any price guide or any website by the looks of it, so maybe a new discovery. It's a very uptempo blue eyed stomper and it can be heard here

You even have to ask someone elses opinion (smithy) of whether a record is good because you dont know it. Lets hope he gets out enough or your truly f--ked for opinions!
To be fair I did say I didn't know them, I can't give an opinion on something I haven't heard (unless it's modern
)
p.s. it's Smiffy

When I was at school there was this swotty effeminate kid who used to get picked on all the time.
His dad was minted and I remember him going out one weekend and buying every single colour Pringle jumper available at the time in a bid to ingratiate himself with the lads who had picked on him. He even gave a few away to his new-found friends.
He was the indisputable Pringle King, he even started to get a bit cocky.
Of course, time marched on, Pringles went out and as he couldn't really go to the match he was always too late in picking up on how the fashions had changed. He was no longer the Pringle King, just the chubby kid who lived in a newsagents. I felt a bit sorry for him sometimes but then remembered how cocky he'd been.
I saw him recently walking around town in his Yellow Diamond jumper, were nearly forty now so we're all grown up and stuff, I stopped him and asked how he was doing. Turns out he'd bought a small factory and some old jumper designs and was producing the "Bringle Dyamond" in an effort to introduce a new generation to the wonders of wooly golfwear. I told him it wouldn't work, that the Dyamond Bringle was a poor imitation of the original but he wouldn't have it. He refused to move on. So I moved on.
I don't know what reminded me of that.
Do you mind, I wear Bringle Dyamond now that everyone else wears Stone Island

OK, I've scanned most of it now. Can't we all just agree that he discovered everything and start another topic?
Actually it'd be interesting to see a list of stuff found in London that made it's way up North, Mick is always telling me that he discovered more or less every record played at the Torch!

That's the second time you've a mentioned Bolton working men's club.
Why is Bolton being singled out? Do you feel it's somehow representative of the
grassroots NS scene?
You know, the tired old clich of clothcaps and pigeons flying over terraced roofs that the media likes to project....
My grandfather was from Bolton, a Stanley, a veteran of the Somme & Suvla Bay.
His grandfather came over from Irish midlands in the wake of the Great Famine.
Nowt wrong with Bolton.
Did you know that Newton Aycliffe was also synonymous with Soul Beeks?
I hate Bolton and especially it's sh*t football team

It's not good enough to have ben played in 1973. No way.
I think if you hear a really good recording of it you might change your mind, Love Will Find A Way side anyway - Popcorn Wylie production, bound to be Motown musicians moonlighting, what more could anyone ask? It's not the greatest record ever but it's certainly good enough to have gained plays at any time. In my opinion.

It was covered up as Clouds in tribute to Richard Searlings favourite all nighter off that time (even over Wigan) Clouds in Edinburgh, that was only reason for that.
Never heard the Venecia Wilson, anyone got a soundclip or is it in Refosoul?
Sure they Fuzzy Faced Fake will have it in his massed collection, as he was obviously there when this story was broke or he would not have commented.
1) the whole clip is above
2) who is the fuzzy faced fake
3) can you let me know if I actually sent you any of the correct records Jock

Brad Hales, the guy from People's records of detroit (who has been discussed here before, specifically when his old store burned town) is the seller burl*one.
re: recordmanx, I don't think his grading is particularly conservative, but to each his own I guess. I do like that he lists a lot of 45s and I do bid on his auctions a lot, he's a reliable person.
He's got some shocking feedback though - either records are knackered or don't turn up at all
put his user id in
