This has been my way of buying over the years. I could never understand wanting to own every record on a particular label. It’s totally about “what’s in the groove that counts” for me. I don’t understand how anyone can afford to buy thousands of records. If it doesn’t move me, why would I buy it. I think they call us hot boxers these days. But having 120 fantastic records, is better than having 2,000 but only ten are any good. Lol

Most of these new buyers aren’t “collectors” as we understand it. They are wannabe DJ’s who want the best dance tunes, that will pack a dance floor. Don’t forget that, what once packed a dance floor in our youth, can empty one now. i.e. Larry Wright vs Holidays Larry Wright is much too fast for today. Even with the fabulous b side. The Holidays in contrast, was always a little slow to be a dance floor favourite, but is now perfect for OAP dance floors.

Just another thought on the subject of wealthy collectors paying huge amounts for big ticket items. At one time you could think, 'That record will come another day." but at our age, who knows how many other days we've got? Maybe that makes people throw caution to the wind?

We need to be very careful here implying that just because a person is wealthy, they are brash and lack good taste in music. If I'm honest I think we would all like to be able to afford nice things, but it's a fact of life that we all can't. c'est la vie.

Personally think it's one of the best 70's dance tunes of all time. A complete game changer, and very rare. If you are lucky enough to be wealthy, then I suppose these kind of prices are acceptable. Unfortunately I'm not.
