  1. No mate. With them rolled up eyes and coming from Munster I thought she was a mate of Frankenstein's
  2. - really sorry Pete. I've never evaded that question before. You'll just have to trust me that it's not the thing to do this time.
  3. No Webby - none of these girls:
  4. Afraid i can't answer that question Pete - things might get complicated if I did...
  5. Not Dana, Chris. This lady had a huge chart hit some years after the photo
  6. Fine, Fine Fine on Vault - Covered up as Judy Street. Never seen a pic though.
  7. Who Tanita Tikaram? It used to freak me the way her eyes used to roll up in her head when she sang. Didn't know she was German at the time either...
  8. Good point Webby! On a technical note though she wasn't named on the record and our girl was.
  9. That's a terrible excuse - take 50 lines Isis. Actually I usually only take questions to which I can give yes/no answers. I 'll let you off this time and tell you she's a solo performer - although there's a connection to a well known group. I like Jam and Jerusalem too but don't tell anyone
  10. I'll provicde a more up to date pic in a bit if we're no closer.
  11. Sorry Ted... Not Toni Basil...
  12. Sorry Barny - should have made it clear. The rule is they have to have a record played on the Northern Soul scene
  13. Do you say that every week? Nope!
  14. Although Tina appeared at my youth club in Chadderton she didn't have a record played on the Northern scene.
  15. I know you only make these sort of comments to get your post count up dafthead...
  16. Fraid not Suz. This lady eventually had a much bigger hit than any of Barbara's Barbara Mills
  17. Depends on whether you like a bit of harmless fun or prefer to concentrate on the old belly button fluff Actually, yes. It's a fine tradition
  18. "knock up"??? Nah - she didn't have a two word hit. She did have a hit though, although later in her career than when this pic was taken.
  19. Apologies for being a bit tardy. Had to knock up a presentation for work and running a tad late. Staying with the tradition of using performers not usually thought of a soul artists - here's this weeks. There are a couple of questions that I won't answer this time as I think it might give it away to easily Feel free to have a random guess. It all adds to the fun
  20. Sorted with this now. Thanks to all who contacted me and a big cheers to okehdokeh for his wonderfully generous gesture. My mate Carl will be over the moon to add this to his jukebox. I love this site Paul
  21. Nice one Ken. Let's sort details out by PM Cheers Paul
  22. Anybody got a boot of this going spare? In the 80s I was involved in a Soul band that played a lot of Northern. We had a get together last night and it looks like a reformation is on the cards. More of this later though. The guitarist was really young at the time and he reminded me that I did loads of tapes for him and told me that he now has jukebox full of Northern Soul. One of the tapes ended with The Chandlers - Your Love Makes Me Lonely, but it cut out half way through the song and he'd guessed the next word was "appreciate" but it's taken him 14 years to get confirmation. He was mightily chuffed as you can imagine! I've sent him an MP3 this morning but thought it might be nice to post him a 45 for his jukebox as a surprise. Can anyone help please? I'll pay a reasonable 'booty' price. Please contact me by PM or email to: mistergodzilla@yahoo.com Cheers Paul
  23. Update: I've been contacted by several people asking asking why I can't sell 'Tom Brown's' armchair collection (or Ken and 'James' records for the matter) on a website. The simple answer is this: I live in a little village called Tidmordon. It's a beautiful spot but the drawback is that it's situated on a time rift and history runs backwards. Consequently although the internet was invented in some 20 years time, it has no longer been and so I can't use it. Also I'm busy writing a book about my passion for zoos. It's a further sign of my good character however, and proof that I'm not a slipperry eel. Certainly not a cheetah.
