  1. Absolutely not!! Recap time: The American lady in the picture had one very poppy song played briefly in the 70s. It got booted and if you suss the bootleg label you can work it out. This song also came out on a CD comp. The original label suggests she had more success than she actually did. Another band did a version on Decca but it's less well known so not much help. That's about it for the Northern stuff. She also had a Rock n Roll song (from 1962 actually) that has appeared on RnR and doo wop comps. This song was on a label that sounds like it's got a Motown connection - but it hasn't. err - and it's not any of the guesses we've had so far...
  2. She became a US politician. Not her though
  3. Susan Farrar was on Philips actually - and we've already had her. I think this other version is a bit of a blind alley to be honest.
  4. No you haven't!
  5. Not all of 'em you haven't. Thing is the other version is not really well known either, although it has been comped a couple of times. Not on sould comps though and it's much poppier than the lady's version. Which is saying something. Might even be the first version. Came out 1969 on Decca if you're determined to go down that route
  6. Nah - you'd all do better asking some questions about the boot. I think that could really point you in the right direction. And that last phrase is not a clue btw
  7. Who's TB - Toni Basil? In that case N.O.
  8. Much, much worse.
  9. What kind of a Yes/No question is that. You can't have it on a plate
  10. actually one of them tried to chat up a pal of mine in the late 80s when he was about 17. Scared the bejeezus out of him!
  11. What like Beverly Hillbillies? Sorry our kid - not Beverly. I'm surprised no-ones asked questions about the bootleg. I need a bath and want to watch The Street (Not Corrie!) at 9 o'clock, so could do with someone getting it in the next 10 mins.
  12. Fraid not - even worse tune in my book. Not Toni Fisher either Ken. She had another hit didn't she? And I don't think her version of The Big Hurt wa s played was it?
  13. Susan Barrett
  14. and here's the pic again
  15. UK based our Paula, mate - but don't give it up
  16. Correct!! You might do better asking me about the boot actually... ..although I bet she wishes she was as sucessful as the original label suggests...
  17. No - ask me if it's on a well known label next... and I didn't say it was big - although it was popular enough to get booted and came out on a CD comp. That's loads of clues!
  18. Nope Nope Nope First clue: There's another version of this (maybe the first?) from 1969 on a major label. This other version is a group and someone has already suggested the first word in the groups name when they had a guess.
  19. Are you two in the same room? That's poppy enough but not her. I have a feeling you'll get her now you're on the right lines. as long as Webby doesn't say Mary Wells or something like...
  20. Cheers ken - good idea. Not Joanie though. In fact I've revised my guess about her and I think she's a bit more of a Wanda Jackson type rock n roller, rather than a teener like Joanie
  21. That's getting closer in poppyness Wendy. Maybe the closest so far? Don't put too much weight on that though, as I don't really know anything about Susan Coleman apart from her doing age of the Wolf. As an aside I have my X-Ray Specs on and I can see who the anonymous members watching this thread are. Wish they'd join in and have a go but I bet they don't...
  22. I like 'Music' and I really like the flip "No Sunshine". This is a much worse tune and played a little later, Ken. As a matter of fact I've just googled her as I haven't for a while and it seems her other record isn't as obscure as I initially thought. In fact it's appeared on some Rock 'n Roll compilations
  23. Obscure enough I reckon but Judy's tune is too good. Remember I said it was only played a short while in the bad old years and I'm pretty sure it's never been reactivated.
  24. I been laughing at him all night and it's sure not de nobody. But it ain't de somebody...
