Primers On Hale
No you misunderstood what i'm saying Chalky, i'm not questioning if Butch's acetate is original or not, or Sam's. What i'm saying is, Karen obviously likes the record, she's not going to shell out a couple of thousand dollars on an original, so why can't she play it off a vinyl carvers cut or an acetate for goodness sake? Has this scene gone so far up it's own arse that unless you are one of the fortunate few to own an original you shouldn't play it? I wouldn't mind her doing it, & i own an original, i think it would be nice to hear it out more, & the only way that'll happen is if more people have access to it. So unless more copies of this record show up, what's the option? pottsy

Primers On Hale
Why? If it's o.k. for a big name d.j. to play it off an acetate, why's it not o.k. for you to do the same?

Primers On Hale
Get an acetate cut, or get vinyl carvers to cut you one, just as good. I dont like playing mine, as it's still mint & it's made out of Styrene. That's the only problem collecting west coast stuff, so much of it's on Styrene. pottsy

Primers On Hale
Hello Karen, it's not a silly question at all, i'll try & throw a little light on thing's. Way back when that first acetate was sold, i got the vinyl from a local L.A. dealer (the guy that had just sold the acetate) that had just found Lee Silver & purchased it from him, at this stage it was an unknown sound. As i was collecting L.A. labels i decided to keep it. Shortly after i got the record i tracked Lee down & would go round to his apartment, he had box loads of records on certain titles still at that time, but he didn't have another Primers. Then Lee released a c.d. with the Primers on, which he took from a master tape. That c.d. take is a slightly different one to the vinyl. I know he didn't have another copy of the Primers as when he realised i had just purchased his copy, he tried to buy it back off me, as he'd been approached by someone that had just heard his c.d. & said they would pay him a lot of money for a copy on vinyl. At this time i knew of 2 other copies, one got sold to Kytch, then some time later the other got sold to Tim Brown. pottsy. p.s. i've still got my copy.

I sat & talked with Lee Silver (the producer/label owner) in length about this. He told me they were a black 5 piece group from San Diego.

Deena Johnson - Breaking Point
Hang on a minute, all i did was to point out there was a bargain to be had. Everyone that buy's off me on ebay know's i start at 99p & there's no reserve, so if they put in a bid believe me i'll make sure they honour that bid should they win the item, no if's, no buts. This isn't some kind of game for me, this is my living. I hope people win a bargain as that means they'll come back & buy again. That's why i sell in batches of 15-20 records at a time, i look at it as an overall thing, some i lose on some i'll gain on. By the way, there's a profit left in that Luther Thomas at 99p. pottsy

Yeh Right
Hello Mandy, The item in question sold on the 15th September, i didn't get a response until 20th October, when i said i'd leave him bad feedback if he didn't pay up. So in other words, he wasn't in any way interested until it was going to have an adverse affect on himself. Would have thought this would have been long enough to respond. This should in no way give any other d.j's nervous twitches, as they weren't involved in the auction. pottsy

Hello Dave, 1. I am doing, but does that excuse the fact that people do this? Bid on items & then not honour their bid?. Before you click on the "place your bid" button, it explains without any confusion that it's a binding contract that you are entering. Sadly, this happens a lot & sellers are not given a chance to voice their feeling's regarding this, other than leaving bad feedback. And as i have said before, if you leave a bad feedback the buyer can leave the same in retaliation. Then it's a long process of appealing to ebay to try & get that negative removed. 2. I'm very prepared to name him, but once that's been done, where does that leave me? It leaves me without my money & no bargaining power. This may well smack of small time sensationalism to you Dave, but then i don't suppose you do this for your living. This isn't a hobby of mine, this is my full time job. 3. I can't see how anyone has been compromised in any way. All the information regarding bid's is on full view to the public. You can view their feedback history, what they've bid on, what they didn't win. But sadly, the only thing you can't view, is what they didn't pay up on. pottsy.

Problem is mischief, ebay have now made it such a long drawn out process to recoup your fee's, as in this case. They dont want to lose their commission, come what may. They even suggested ME calling the buyer!! pottsy

Back in September i sold a Ronnie Dyson - Lady in red on ebay. As with all my ebay sales, 99p kick off, no reserve. It made £46. Did the buyer pay up? No. So i sent several reminders. No reply. I then said if you don't pay me, i'll give you a bad feedback. Then i got a reply ( i've deleted all names except mine ):- hi ady there was a mis hap, ***** my good lady bid $25 for it not knowing it was buy it now which i think you had £45 on which is tinch to high sorry for any inconveinence caused **** like i said, started it at 99p no reserve I didn't tell him to go £46, he chose to go to that. So what can i do? Nothing. If i give him a bad feedback, he'll give me one. Funny thing is, without saying who it is, it's a big name d.j., & i've seen him on soul source so he's reading this. The item number of the record is:- 4766268439 Dont know how to do a link to it, perhaps someone else can do that. So, can you pay me, please!!

Manship's U.k. Price Guide
I hope you put something like a deliberate mistake in Pete, so your work can be identified. Bout time you did a reggae price guide mate, that record collector one is a joke.
