  1. Ah ha. So a cult then? As opposed to a 'movement'? (so to speak). You can ave a talk ere, we're all pals .. (Bonus point if you can tell me which film that line is from)
  2. One cult? Or one person?

To get back to the original question for a sec, was this definitely about Hearts beating stronger, or the vastly superior (imo) Wee bit longer ..?

Scorned by the daughter for laughing loudly over the top of Neighbours! Anyway on topic, fat fish, isn't it? Hmmm ...

Yes but we know that's not the case. I wonder how Keith let others have access to the track in order to cut it if he had the only copy? Who else has the Barons of Soul other than Butch? Anyone else played it? If they have it'd better not be a Grapevine copy ..

So only one person is allowed to play the Deon Jackson acetate?
  8. yes

No I thought your remarks were funny. Soul police comments are to be expected and in following the letter of the law they're kind of right. Though I don't give to much of a toss as only have to bare 50% shame for the Andy Fisher.

Had a feeling you might say similar and I respect your honest opinion. Just that (as already stated) said track is seldom seen and for the effort of having SDTSWS done thought that'd be a good b side.

Well because at the time, I was about £1460 shy of the cost for a real one and I wouldn't have had 'Someday the sun will shine' either. Also an acetate isn't perhaps quite as awful as the 'dreadful repro' tag. That's why.
  13. If I recall the uba cool mods would not consider themselves as being classed as 'mods'. Their preference of tag (if any) was perhaps 'stylists'. Run of the mill mods were known as 'moddy boys'. Also remember the transition (for some) from suits to army green's, flying jackets and monkey boots. This could be seen as simply a change in style or by osmosis a mod turning into a scooter boy. It depends on your point of view. Then there were 'psycho/scooter billies' with the mohicans, drinking pints of vomit etc. Isle of Wight 1984 springs to mind for many of these types and a classic line from a scouse soulie there; “It's all fookin poonks”! Lastly scooter skins were perhaps few and far between, but we had a mod mate from Harlow (Andy Ball) who decided one week to become a scooter skin. Removing all the chrome from his scooter, having his head shaved and dressing in denims with moccasins etc. This lasted for about a fortnight until I recall him uttering the immortal line “I'm no longer a scooter skin, I'm just a hard mod”! Happy days ...
  14. Has Freddie Chavez been mentioned yet? Think that's in keeping with the spirit of what we're talking about here.

Remember you getting an acetate of this done for me a year or so back mate, with Deon Jackson on the flip. £40, lot more like it.
  16. Moving to appropriate section.

George Cameron - My heart tells me so - PORTRAIT Eddie Day & the Four Bars - What's on your mind - SHELLEY Roy Hamilton - Crackin' up over you - RCA Victor demo Victor Knight - Chinatown - RON-CRIS Lonnie Lester - You can't go - NU-TONE
  18. 6T14 A - Peggy Gaines - When The Boy That You Love (Is Loving You) 6T14 B - The San Franciscan T.K.O.s - Make Up Your Mind A tale of two cities on the '98 release, topside comes out of Nashville via Peggy Gaines unreleased track from the Ref-O-Ree label with the smooth dancer 'When The Boy....'. San Francisco holds up the 'B' side with the San Fran TKOs 'Make Up Your Mind', a fantastic sound, just listen to those trumpets ! Think if we call them 'San franciscan' it kind of Northern's it up a bit? Bit like Lenny Gamble! Santa outfilt, sleigh, gone ..
  19. One other thing though. Sort of thought they were 'Sanfranciscan TKO's'. Whether the band were actually called that or Sanfrancisco, I'm not sure. Probably the latter. However how was MUYM released on Kent? Pete had a scan of this while back in look at your box. Pikey also (see below).
  20. I think post #4 sort of lays that to rest mate to be fair. Thing is we debated this very topic on here some time back. Complete with our man Chalky (and he know's a thing or two our Chalk) posting up pics of the band minus any kind of female presence. However on that particular track the lead is a woman. Strange sounding chick I grant you. But a woman all the same.
  21. Indeed. Or the mightily confusing line; (sorry audra ) "I gave you everything a woman could give"!
  22. Ah man, just remember going to a do on my Vespa 50 in 83'. Just getting into soul and dancing to 'night train' - "Miami Florida, Atlanta Georgia". Truly fantastic stuff.. Around the time of Martin Luther King's sad demise, for JB to sing about "say it loud, I'm black and I'm proud" and lift the nation in black awareness was a remarkable thing. RIP Mr JB.
