  2. For anyone interested, first two hours this Sunday (2-4pm) will be chance to hear some of our fave new / recent & decent soul releases, followed by great line up of DJs and collectors playing some of their top soul choices. What better way to sign off summer :)

  3. Looking good for this coming Sunday.. DJ times to follow in the next few days👍

Meanwhile just a quick note to add the main restaurant in the hotel is already booked up for much of the afternoon, so best phone the venue if you want to book a Sunday Roast! There will be sarnies / chips etc available to order later.

Hopefully the soul will rank ahead of eating, but there’s always the Mcd’s 5 mins drive up the road.:)

Here’s the hotel website if anyone needs it: https://www.thestanwickhotel.co.uk/

Hope to see you there...no charge to get in, just turn up anytime between 2 - 10 if you fancy a few hours of all things soulful!

  4. Looking forward to some decent soul and banter to end the weekend...in the hotel conservatory where we’ll be from 7pm. See you there if you fancy a Soulful Sunday night out in East Northants. If not this one then there’s just one more this year..the dayer on 2nd Sept! :)

  5. So here we are...longest day / week of summer here (already?!), World cup firmly underway and hopefully some long, lazy weekends & holidays to look forward to.

Anyone who fancies soaking up some laid back soul, gospel & a dash reggae to wind down after the next England game this Sunday...we'll be here at The Stanwick hotel from 7pm, continuing on from where we left off with The Sunday Soul Sessions over the last  few years... decks etc set up inside the main room with doors open onto patio & seating outside.

Same music policy as before covering all things soulful from over the last 50 years, some choice new releases too, cheap as chips sounds to rarer sides.

Plenty of parking & free in. Some great local collectors lined up for this one (Sid Clayton and Brothers Dean & Jason Lockwood), also looking forward to seeing and hearing some different guests at the next one end of July.

Quick mention about the special one-off dayer on Sunday 2nd Sept...DJs / collectors confirmed so far for the dayer include Mark Merry, Steve Jay, Len Dopson, Dave Halsall and a few more to be confirmed! Anyway I'll update that under the separate event over the next week or two, but for now we'll enjoy the first one this Sunday and hope to see you there.

    Cheers!

Hoping to get down to this for the first time next weekend. Really enjoyed hearing the guys play great sets including likes of the Soul Fantastics etc a few weeks ago in the Cotton Club

  6. Yes, back in the conservatory room at The Stanwick Hotel this Sunday night from 7-11. The room has had a bit of a makeover and now opens up more to the bar :). Forecast looks good, line up of DJs looks great, so doors will be open for some late summer soul inside and out..the last of these gatherings for this year...recently described by one of the hotel staff as a "well relaxing" night! :D

    Hope to see you there.

  7. Looking forward to a blast out at Bury with Len & Co this weekend and no rush back the next day either:thumbsup:

...that's LEN & Co, not Legs & Co...though I'm sure I had a good dream about that idea once after seeing them on TOTP as a young teen:D

  8. Looking forward to welcoming back some of the regulars and seeing anyone else who fancies it for a few hours of soul this coming Sunday eve from 6.30ish..Free entry as usual but please note we'll be in the main bar this time, on the left as you walk in near reception and which also opens out onto patio area...closer to the bar!:D:thumbsup:

  9. Another weekend at last!:)

Anyone thinking WHERE COULD I GO?

THINK NOTHING ABOUT IT... and get yourselves over to the Stanwick Hotel this Sunday night.

...Just two of our fave tracks played previously by BG at this little gathering of like minded souls and another top line up of collectors / DJs for you again this time around.

Its free in and doors open out onto patio area so you can enjoy a drink and natter outside while soaking up all sorts of soul, old & new, so there you go...hopefully see you there!

  10. ...and they're off:D:thumbsup:

Anyone wondering where to go this Friday, if you've not been to this venue yet in East Northants, it's a great room..wall to wall decent wooden floor, usually some talc down in the corners, nice n dark, great sound system and parking on site (if you get there's early enough, otherwise just down the road).

Looking forward to a night of top Northern, plenty of dancing, drinking and banter...oh and Len's presence too of course:thumbsup:

...Why not make it a mini-weekender and pop back on the Sunday night too for Sunday Soul Sessions in the smaller room, 7-11 to keep Monday off your mind that bit longer and soak up some SOUL!

Lonnnnng time overdue for me to give this famous club a try, great line up, looking forward to it, even with the challenge of Len no doubt nattering away there and back when I'm trying to nap on the train...hopefully play those few records I like dancing to even if no one else does :D:thumbsup:

  11. On 2/1/2017 at 15:36, LEN said:

'The Sunday Soul Sessions' is in the Main Room on the Sunday

    All the best,

    Len

...Slight change of plan today that we'll be staying in the conservatory room side of the hotel, rather than the main room, for a much needed wind-down soul session after a busy couple of nights. It's more cozy on a day like today and this is also where we'll also hold just three more Sunday Soul Sessions this year: 14th May, 16th Jul and 24th Sept. Less is more:thumbsup:

Thanks in advance to today's guest collectors who will be sharing their soul along with Brian and I from 2pm will be Tricky, Pete Mattock, Sid, Tank, Stevie P and brothers Dean & Jason Lockwood.

    Cheers, Steve

  12. A few people have asked about food available....The hotel have confirmed they'll be serving up basket meals and other snacks over the weekend + those staying over get a great breakfast of course. Should be reasonably priced but if anyone wants to brave the cold for something more hearty there's also a great pub by the church just 5 mins walk into Stanwick (and a 24 hr McD's a couple of miles miles up the road on the edge of Raunds:thumbsup:).

Looks like it's gonna be cool out and maybe some snow, but with 3500 Watt sound systems in each room and top soul being served to top people across the weekend, should be warm inside at least! :)

Ps..the Sunday Soul Session is now confirmed as starting at 2pm rather than the originally advertised later time and is shaping up very nicely for those interested.

    Cheers, Steve

  13. Cheers for sorting DJ times for the second room Len:thumbsup:..Great line up in both rooms right across the weekend, really looking forward to seeing everyone again.

Just a quick note to all interested in the Sunday Soul Session, now looking to start this soon after lunch rather than originally listed time of 4, so even more soul packed in the weekend if you want it! :)

Still a few tickets left for either the whole weekend or just the individual days if you prefer..please contact Jem or click this link http://www.grooveonpromotions.co.uk/shop/

    See you there, Steve.

  14. Anyone pondering what to do on the weekend 10/11/12 Feb, hopefully above summary and DJs listed so far should tell you all you need to know about the sort of soul you can expect to hear, but free to get in touch by PM if you want to know more. Len will post up DJ times for the 2nd room in the next few days...both rooms and all sessions shaping up to be great:thumbsup:

Still some rooms available at the hotel itself, discounted by 20% on normal rates (down to £60 for single room or £80 double)..including a cracking breakfast  http://www.thestanwickhotel.co.uk/ Then maybe go for a walk round the brilliant nearby Stanwick Lakes http://www.stanwicklakes.org.uk/northampton/ before the Saturday or Sunday afternoon sessions.

Or if you don't mind short taxi ride there's the Travelodge approx 5 miles away in Thrapston just off the A14 (J13), currently looking like about £40 a room there.

Tickets moving well so please use the link in above post if you'd like to get on board for just one, two or hopefully all three days!

    Cheers, Steve

  15. Back by popular demand, tickets are now available for this second weekender at the Stanwick Hotel, Northants.

Weekend passes are £20...or you can choose just the Friday night (£7), Saturday day/night (£10) or The Sunday Soul Sessions (£5).
