Been scatching my head for a while now & itching to put on A GOOD Quaility Soul Night ~ & as fate would have it I bumped into the Owner of a Club Called the Function Rooms & Before I had a Chance to ask him about the possabillity of using the club, He Offered it to me on a Plate I originaly only wanted the Thursday of Easter ~ but part of the deal is I put on Good Quality do's @ his Venue once a month on the First Thursday of the month Starting on Thursday 3rd December with Brian Rae as special guest other dates Jan 7th Carl Fortnum ~ Feb 4th ~ March 4th & then the Big One... RSG 29th Anniversary Reunion on Thursday 1st April This Club we are using is superb So Here we Are in the Town Centre 1st Thusday of the Month 9-4am @ " The Function Rooms" Waterhouse Street Hemel Hempstead Few people I know said ~ Great I'll book a Hoilday Day Once a Month on a Friday & Come Along ? I Might even get my old Mark Three Cortina Out ??? Now Hemel Hempstead for me is Special ~ Firstly Because I live here ~ but in 1981 I had a Regular Thursday Club ever week every Thursday for 3 & a half years & having had Northern Do's @ so many Venue's within 20 miles Around Hemel Hempstead over a 30 year period It's a bit like a home coming ~ but I Ain't been nowhere ??? This event was started at the 2004 rally, and is aimed fairly and squarely at true fans of Northern Soul,this year is our 5th anniversary - we are looking forwards to four top nights playing 100% northern Soul - R+B,with a hint of modern here and there. Soul at The Crown is focused on rare and classic soul music played at the top All nighters and Soul Nights through out the Country. Had to pay for PRS @ Various Venues That I Have Used, But Always Argued That The Music We Was Playing ie The Northern Soul Artists Never Gained Out Of It, I Always Saw The Likes of The Rolling Stones & Other Big Names Benifiting From This, & They didn't Really Need The Dosh, Only a Few Times Have We Been Asked For a List of Music Played, But Never Got a Refund Due to The Artists on Our List Not Being Connected to PRS ???? Heard a bit of Disturbing News Regarding Jethro Jones from Wolverhampton - Jethro Was Out @ A Dance Club in The USA. I Am Not Sure of The Exact Location - But My Friend John Fazer From Hemel, Spoke to him Last Year & He Was In LA @ The Time - Anyway He Was Dancing Away in His Own Unique Style, @ A Music Club in A Major City of The USA, When He Was Surrounded By A Group of Afro-American's, Who Took It Apon Themselves to Be Judge & Jury, And Decided That Because of The Way That He Was Dancing, That He Was GAY - It Was Then That The Large Gang Of "BLACKS" Decided to Kick The F*ck Out of Him - Apparentley He Was Quite Seriously Hurt in This incident But Not Fatal - I Thought That The Music & Club Scene Had Broken Down A Lot of It's Social Barrier's - This Incedent is Deplorable & Jethro WAS NOT GAY & Never Gave That Impression - Now Jethro's Dance Style is Very Similar To The Style Of Keb Darge with Less Floorwork - But A Lot Smoother Around The Edges, He Always Had Smoothness & Grace When Dancing, One Thing That Makes Me Sad About This Incedent is That I Know That Jethro Had So Many " Black " Friends over the Years - & His Undying Love for Black MUsic.... And to Note That Jethro Jones along with a Few others including Glenn From Leicester Were Actually The First Real Northern Dancers on UK TV Dancing To Footsee on Top Of The Pops in 1973.... Jon Buck

One Thing I Had Said To Me By My Mate's Daughter Was That She Had Noticed That When She Was Out Clubbing, That There Was Quite a Few Blokes & Girls That Were Now Trying To Dance With There Feet Instead of There Hands Which Shows That They Must Have Taken Notice of The Dancers on Duffy's Mercy Video Jon Buck
