  1. Agree Mr Jocko Point A - if people do not know who he is or what he has brought to the scene in the last 20 or so years they should be ashamed point B - obviously peoples impressions can be lasting, and I would say that at time Mr D does not suffer fools gladly. However neither do I, but we all have our traits. I have gotten to know Mr D over the years and always found him to be a very intelligent and witty guy, and if people took the time to possibly talk to people like him about other things rather than "have you got a copy of this or that?", then they may realise this Point C - I don't think anyone who has Dj'd over the past 20 years has been as consistent at playing top quality 60's and 70's dance tunes as well as turning up future rarities for others to collect Point D - controvercial? - Mr. Jocko, why change the habit of a lifetime I also attended the same all nighter in Bilston and can remember it well I think bottom line is that over the past 20 years Butch has been in a class of his own and I think it would be pretty difficult to pick out any one of his sets over that tim Jim

  10. Hi Just wondering if anyone has contact details for Ady Harley (originally from Halifax), who now lives in Australia? Even an address, phone number for his parents etc. I am going there on business week after next and would really like to catch up with him Hope someone can help? Thanks Jim
  11. Hi solid soul the DJ policy was really to mix the best of the Scottish collectors and DJ's ( jock, Colin law, Alan walls, Keith Whitson, mark Linton etc.) with the ones from done south who deserved the break, I.e. kitchen, dean, guy, graham Ellis, rob marriot etc. etc. I did have some of the more obvious popular names early on like Brian Rae etc., and also had the elite like Butch, but the aim was not to have people just playing rare expensive records (which it seems to be now), the target was quality Therefore you would hear a £5 record next to a £500 record, and to me and the people that enjoyed the scene at that time, this was greatly accepted Allanton was certainly responsible for bringing great people with the right attitude together at the right time with the right music All the best Jim
  12. haven't seen Graham for a long time Byrney, unsure what he is up to was with jock and kieth a few weeks ago, need to go visit Colin as havent seen him for ages best for now jim
  13. Hey Byrney the actual details are even better mum picks up phone and the a guy on the other side asks "is ruff cut there? mum replies "no" the guy asks "is that ruff cut's mum?" mum replies "yes" the guy asks "is Scotland on tonight" mum replies "yes it is" the guy says "thanks", and then hangs up absolutely priceless Byrney!!!!!!!!!!
  14. Hi gilly Really good to hear from you and I hope you are well? Yes you did DJ for me at Allanton, can't remember the date or year, but I do remember being in the pub beforehand having a few beers with you Something tells me it may also have been your birthday the night you DJ'd? I think you did manage to get some people of the arse and onto the floor - in fact there is a video of it somewhere I'm sure All the best mate and I really hope I bump into you again soon Jim
  15. Hi Byrney Yes shotts/Allanton/scotland as it was known to many, did create something that seems to have left a legacy I suppose just the right time, right people, definitely right music, right venue, right atmosphere, all merged together created something unique as you say Must admit I am extremely proud of shotts and especially when so many people talk fondly of it Just wished I had attended as a punter!! Jim
