  1. Hi Guys

Due to the fantastic response to our first release.

The Rotations-When he slowly moves away from you/We want freedom-Roxanne Records

We have stepped the release date up to 1st March.

These two tracks come from the Lawton sessions recorded in the early 70's in Philadelphia. This is the same group that recorded on Frantic in the late sixties and also shares one member with the original group that came from Ohio.

The session was produced by Manny Campbell, now owner of Coastal records in Atlanta and the man behind the much sought after Nu-Rons and Tearra. Manny has licenced these tracks to us to launch our new label Roxanne Records. The label's aim is to bring the occasional high quality, much sought after release to soul fans around the world.

This release will be retailed at £20 + P&P, which is a little higher than some other new releases, due to a higher licence fee than normal to persuade Manny to put the track out. But we thought it well worth it, so we could have the oppertunity to put out these two stunning tracks, we hope you agree.

The record will be ready for posting from 1st of March from these highly reputable companies. So get your pre-orders in today, remember this is a limited 500 pressing and no more will be pressed.

  4. Pretty sure it was Keb Darge, certainly around Stafford time, fantastic record and I have always thought pretty rare on the red.

Just went looking for my blue copy and can't find the little bugger, anyone got sound clip of the blue version, I think I used to like it in its own right but ages since I played it. I certainly got the blue one of Soul Bowl Mel, as I thought I had bought the Red one not knowing there was a difference Doh!

It was myself and Guy that played it.

    Hi All

Well at long last we are able to release the fantastic Rotations previously un-relaesed tracks, 'When he slowly moves away/We want freedom. They will be available from March 22nd through a number of outlets across europe, these are being finalised now.

I know many of you have sent me notes on a regular basis asking about it's release, sorry it's taken so long.

This is a legal limited 500 pressing from Manny Campbell. We have had them pressed at National Pressing in Nashville to give them that authentic US look and feel. I have even used my daughters name for the label in homage to labels from back in the day, ie Karen, Anna, Moira etc.

  9. all of these wouldn't solve the problem of new sales being pushed off the main page too quickly by bumping though. I think Mike should go with his idea. I also don't like the idea of dividing it into more categories like "crossover" "60s", etc. because music I like falls across the genres and it will just make it more difficult to see everything. Maybe "reggae" is so different that it is less likely the same lists will have reggae and non-reggae but there aren't that many reggae sales anyways.

Agree many people offer varied stuff in one list. I also buy across the board, so would mean looking through more sections. But I have to say looking at just the last days post the warning is not being listen to by some.

Not a easy thing all round and at the moment the sheer number makes it tricky.

  10. Hi Dave

how did they hack it g.gif not an easy thing to do

    all the best

    David

I wish I knew. All I know is it all happen on one day, lots of charges to my credit card Amex and mean £1000's and lots of currency moving through my paypal account. All in the hands of the police and the to companies involved, now.

I have just had the mis-fortune of having my paypal account and credit card hacked. This info may help others. Trying to speak to Paypal live is a nightmare, but I have just achieved this. This is how I did it, trying to use the UK numbers is useless as you only get an automated sevice, so

    • Ring the US number 402-935-2050
    • You get some menu options
    • Choose more options
    • Then choose security
    • This will get you through to a live opperator
    • If you get passed to another department you will need to be patient, it took me 10 mins

    Hope this is helpful

    Dave

  12. Could well be - he did an earlier version of this on Atco so it isn't impossible that he was recording in the sixties...

Believe it was the same guy. Al was one of the 60's/70's big name DJ's up there with Frankie Crocker and E Rodney Jones. He was also somewhat of a empressario in Detroit manager of Al Hudson and Oneway. But he came to a sticky end, used to take payola but not always play the tunes, was eventually shot.

Earnest Kelly, who was in partnership with him in the early 70's tells a great story of spending the whole day in their office on James Cuzons, under the desk because disgruntaled people were taking random shots at the building all day long in connection with payolla.

    Dave,

That's what is written in the run out (on the green label issue) on the SHO-NUFF HOT PANTS side. This green one I have here doesn't play off center.

    COOL OFF side has 20011

    Ady

    Hi Ady

That's good new, as thats the same as this white test pressing, so looks like I have a real test pressing then.

What I meant about the off center pressings is that many of the white test pressing, I think were later pressings, same time as the orange release.

  14. Whereabouts is it and do you think they'd be interested ???

    Please give me details, Dave.

In Smithfields, it's one of what was know as the super clubs. The club is down underground it the old cellars that used to be used by the meat market. It has three rooms plus a chill out bar and most amazing sound system, one room with a stage. You don't need to book all the rooms, you could just use the room with a stage, which has a balcony and the bar area.
