Has anyone considered Holland, Dozier, Holland?

I went to Manchester to watch Onceuponatime................ does anyone know the title and artist of the instrumental that is played? It is about the fifth or sixth record, and I must have it.

We have been back on the northern scene now for about ten years. However I am struggling to get my wife to come with me, as she says, that all the venues are a disgrace and it is impossible to get a decent glass of wine. What is it about northern soul that we invariably have do's at scummy venues? Is it because the people on the scene are poor?

:angry: If I could give you one tip it would be, don't eat in the Pontins restaurant. The food is appalling and really expensive for what is essentially slop. There is a pizza place just passed the station and they will deliver. Better still take your own food.

Made the hairs on the back of my neck stand up when I read that. I was in the Room at the top allnighter in Wigan when I first heard that record, and almost forty years later, I still regard it as one of the greatest ever made. I actually spoke to Sam and Dave when I was in San Francisco one year, they were staying in the same hotel.

My personal favourite floors are, in no special order: Viaduct Newton-Le-Willows, Monaco Hindley and Rylands in Warrington. I was at the Viaduct oldies night in June and there was a bloke there thought he was Nijinsky (not the racehorse, the ballet dancer) anyway his routine was a spin then leap in the air then land on his hands in a back flop. However his timing got a little bit out, you know how it is, and he landed a little arkwardly and I think he broke his wrist. You'd have to have a heart of stone not to laugh.
