  1. Suppose he's OK, but mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm............................. as i said all so subjective
  2. OR? - do i just have to play the Sister Rose LP version at 45 rpm for now
  3. Dear All, Some of the reissues recently IMO are really scraping the barrel i.e. some are just IMO not worthy in terms of material and/or rarity - Please DO NOT mention ANY examples if replying though as we don't want to upset anyone) as they may have the cherished original. The title for me really is my question. Will since i found my baby ever be re-issued? (or has it been) - always loved it to absolute bits, and would be more than happy for a legit re-issue, anybody know why its never been re-issued or anybody know if a re-issue is on the horizon. Or not...................................................................................... Thankyou and have a fantastic weekend!
  4. Has anyone got a copy of Upperhand Band Get it together on US Spy - At least VG+ If so, please message me with price and condition Thankyou
  5. So True, but common for people to have "tunnel vision" and become obsessed especially when they've been after something for so so long - nothing else matters other than to own it - regrets may come once you do own it of course as you've already achieved your goal - then the worrying sets in. It almost becomes momentarily more important than your children!!
  6. LOL - actually that's me!! - one great one (not quite a holy grail, about £1,000 or so) and the other 20 are £10-15 records my excuse is i have ALWAYS loved it and wanted to "own" it.
  7. But it appears its not just auctions, ive heard of really stupid prices recently for private sales especially in the last year or so?
  8. That is very true, BUT people, males in general are inherent collectors and always have been even since the Romans!!, men especially LOVE collecting things, normally the best and the best is normally both rare and beautiful Wont help my collection though
  9. IE Perhaps Rare soul Vinyl has for a long long time been "under" valued and this price rise IS actually the adjustment?????
  10. If your a multimillionaire (or just rich), its like a working person buying a pint of milk at the local - yes if its there and moneys no object then you will buy it. However with ALL investments there is always that potential of a bursting bubble - normally happens at the wrong time ie just after prices have skyrocketed to over inflated prices. Its like that for wine, art, gold, watches, bricks and mortar everything. It never completely loses value, it just adjusts to a more realistic price. Could the same happen for rare Vinyl?? - you actually just never know?? This is great for people like me, not avid serious collectors though. But i guess when things like bubbles burst most savvy "investors" hold onto their assets until they eventually rise again - and they ALWAYS do. However............................................perhaps it is just simply there are more wealthy collectors of rare vinyl in the world than there has ever been before, could be as simple as that and no bubbles will ever burst but keep being inflated. Just wait until the oil giants in the middle east start buying rare soul vinyl - that WILL be interesting?? Still, £425 for a Rita Wright!!??
  11. An Ex copy copy of Rita Wright Touch me Jet was sold privately by my friend to an American a couple of months ago for £425!! - worth £150 maybe?? (a tired record and not really that rare IMO) and a M demo copy of Gloria Shannon Tears sold 2 months ago for £250!! and again last week for £200! - worth again maybe max £140 maybe?? (great record, not at all rare IMO) I am a newbie/wannabe collector, i have got absolutely NO chance of restarting/rekindling my long sold record collection Yes, it just takes one or two people world wide who want it This time around for me collecting records so far has NOT been fun - used to be!!!.
  12. How very dare you? yes probably best
  13. OH didn't know his name was Karl, just thought you spelt Carl wrong
  14. OK, didn't want to mention "specific" songs but if to compare voices then probably IMO would compare: What good am i by Mr Fletcher What about you by Mr Hall I think both songs are strong enough to compare voices - all so subjective though?? and just a bit of fun really , i felt reading previous forum questions some can get rather "heated" and often appeal to a relatively small group. My one was - yes, just random!
  15. No way!!! but if basing it alone on What about you and a good Darrow Fletcher then a pretty close call
  16. Never heard of them, but i will
  17. WOW, I really thought this post would be ignored and me suspended for posting a daft question!! - great to know not. OK, as it has and will veer off track (re original question) to other artists, my favourite vocal performances ever being The fletcher What good am i (he was 17 i believe??) and JP Robinson Our day is here - both make me look like a nut case when i am singing along with my can of Lynx. "personally" Was just a bit of fun really. Interesting!!
  18. I think you missed my point. My question simply being "what is crossover?" and trying to understand it - That was all i asked. I am into absolutely everything, Modern, boogie, two step, jazz, reggae, northern, rare groove, house, grime and some pop? - even some classical!!! Thankyou
  19. Thankyou, i completely agree with you and exactly where i am at also!! - i simply Just wanted to know what "crossover" actually means. As i said in my joining blog one of my favourite songs ever happens to be Jolene by Dolly Parton - Beat that - that's not even soul!!
  20. Thankyou Ed! So in one sentence...........................................................................?? what i gather from what you are saying then is that: "Crossover is "always" modern soul , but some records were and are played and appreciated by the Northern soul fans" If this is correct? if so i shall submit it to the Oxford English. If not, just shoot me Thankyou again .
  21. Just to add, using Alex Brown (as ref) which to my ears is PURE modern soul, the J Holiday one is PURE northern? - then why are they both considered crossover? - i am just not getting it
  22. Thankyou. Now however i am even more confused and youv'e highlighted my point - To "my" ears that track would be complete and total 100% Northern? OK, if i compared my examples in original post say Alex Brown not responsible as an example, both records in terms of almost everything are completely totally different - both are still crossover though. I think i will not use the term crossover, i think i am just going to have to say "soul".
  23. Woops ive just contradicted my own post by mentioning a song - Silly me.
  24. Thankyou Friend, Yes, again completely agree with your other two you threw into the mix but that was NOT the question? Also, agree maybe better although none better IMO than Darrow Fletcher - "What good am i" for "me" is utter singing perfection. But if id said choose "anybody" then that question/responses would have be far toooooooo subjective - Had to be two. Maybe that should be another post, not by me though i've done enough
