  9. I've never heard the slot, but there is a "Motown Monday" track on Times Radio Matt Chorley show, where Mr Hoyle picks a tune. Nice to see something about Soul Music in the mainstream media, albeit nothing too deep
  10. Oldham Colliseum...original?
  11. Lindsay Hoyle...Motown fan and Mecca Highland Room
  12. The 1978 tour was at The Free Trade Hall on Peter Street. the support act was Motown newcomers "Three Ounces of Love". An almighty punch up in the first few rows was memorable ........no idea what the cause was.
  13. After some digging around, I found the answer in Sharon Davis' book "Motown -the History". She says that The Commodores first UK tour was March 1977. The Support act was " Muscles". She refers to the dense dry ice, flashing lights and cannon-fired confetti!!
  14. That seems reasonable to me.....76 sounds good.
  15. Looking at the dates of their USA 45s, I'm inclined to think it was 1974....possibly 1975.
  16. Yes he was. Don't recall The Fatback Band, but you could well be right. I saw them around 1978..Free Trade Hall...with Motown newcomers Three Ounces of Love I think.
  17. Thanks. I had the " Machine Gun" album with me, and got 3 autographs on the album when the group alighted the tour bus. I knew the names..just...as they were a new act to Motown. I recall that one autograph was Lionel Richie. My main memory was seeing Richie going "solo" , playing the piano on a few ballads...probably " just to be close to you", " Sweet love", " This is your life" ?? I remember thinking at the time that he would need to leave the group...he was a real all round talent.
  18. I hope somebody can help. I saw the Commodores at Manchester Apollo in the 70s. Can't remember if they were support or main act. They were relatively unknown at the time...Machine Gun period. I think about 73/74....can anybody pin point the date please?
  19. Some great tunes but my favourite has to be "My little red book"..with Burt Bacharach Orchestra.
  20. Yes that's it ...many thanks. I probably have it elsewhere but the CDr I played had it as "unknown".
  21. Dukeofburgundy thanks for reply but it's not the track you've posted. I'll try to post more lyrics.
  22. Can anyone help please? Mid tempo Female ballad.....sounds as though it's called " I need you baby" ? "A woman needs a man who treats her right every day and night, and a man needs a woman do the same and then he give her his ring" And I need you Baby"
