  1. haha, i recently got a quote from a professional art restorer to restore a relatively simply designed but water damaged label. I would post the actual quote but I don't want it circulating with my name on it, but the quote was $3500.

At that price I'm sure the vinyl / styrene would not be damaged.

  2. Can't believe how many different labels he recorded on - Peritone, Back Beat, Quazar, Red Sun, Yellow Horizon, Feron, Mercury, Paradise, Phil LA Of Soul, Jetstream, Fair Play, Sophie + some others that I can't remember at the moment

he had an extremely long career -- early '60s to '90s

  3. yeah, the pacesetters backing is used for something else, can't think of it right now, some other willie hoskins thing. Here is the show I just posted, a flashback to 1/21/2007:

  5. wow thanks a lot. i see you sold an ervin rucker 45, do you have more info on him / connections to him? I checked out this video:

the southern accent is much closer, but the voice doesn't exactly match. But the youtube video could have been sped up / slowed down.

everyone on the internet is saying that this record by "The Phantom" is sonny craver:

    https://www.popsike.com/Northern-Soul-Funk-THE-PHANTOM-Come-Back-To-Me-Uh-Huh-Ohyeah-Karisma-HEAR/180809095207.html

    here is audio:

the record is produced by sonny craver. Does anyone have any actual evidence of this besides speculation and everyone copying everyone else's information? Listening to this record and comparing it to other sonny craver 45s I guess it's possible but on other 45s Sonny Craver has a deeper voice and less of a southern accent. The more I listen the less I think it's Sonny Craver and instead an internet rumor. Anyone have any actual substantiating evidence (e.g. something concrete saying that Sonny Craver went by that pseudonym or an interview with Sonny himself?). I also don't see why he would produce the record and randomly make up the pseudonym for this one record. Thanks in advance for any info on this.

  7. I can look up almost any of these in copyright and get like an exact date it was copyrighted but it takes a ridiculous amount of time pre-1978 because you have to go through the books.

  8. Thanks a lot! Troy also confirmed this. Other collectors confirmed that they knew of no other numbers (obviously that doesn't prove that no other ones exist, just that if they do, they are not "known" by VA collectors). The only thing someone would need to do to improve the discography is to check which ones are DPG vs. D.P.G. and give completely accurate label credits (e.g. the band is credited on most of the tracks). Thanks again.

  9. ok, here is my new attempt to clean this up. correct full credits and label names with / without the periods are still not there. if someone with the nationals could say whether there is a -9 on one side and a different number on the other that would help. one collector told me this looks complete, although obviously there could be a very rare missing number.

edit, also some of the credits are still not 100% correct above (e.g. with the band, etc.) and some of the labels are DPG and some are D.P.G.

  11. I reached out to some VA collectors to see if they have any additions. Here is a cleaned up version of the discography. I don't think any records credit "frog" (haven't found a photo at least) and think all cases are sellers making typos / mistakes.
