No Bob, I think he's saying that he sold it for a third party, and has already paid the third party his money............
oh that sucks, sorry. personally I would take it back but I agree that you did sell it described as poor and as is so it's fair not to accept returns. the problem is that if the person puts in a paypal claim they will get their money back anyways. if you get the claim, you can force them to at least return it to you and pay for tracking. you also risk a negative though which sucks.

maybe not mega rare steve but i think you`d be stickin your neck out a bit to say its common... the other one on the label is certainly commoner.
yeah, I would go so far as to say it's rare. Maybe there was some stock of it a long time ago but there also was stock of the salvadors, etc. What I don't understand though is a really expensive price for a bad condition copy, almost as much as a mint one.
-
I don't understand this...............I know people who have bought records off ebay that played very badly with many pops and clicks. Then I have heard them play that record out, and it has sounded perfect. They said they had the record polished.
Surely if a record has many scratches, and is noisy, it will play better when these scratches have been removed?
It could be possible that the skimming removed some dirt that would have also been removed via cleaning. It definitely doesn't "remove" scratches though.

Thanks for all the nice comments, it means a lot.
Taking inspiration from the incredible things Bob has done on his show Sitting In The Park, I'm working on putting together some interviews for my own show.
I really appreciate the compliment. If there are specific artists you specifically would want to interview, let me know and I can possibly hook you up. I have a huge backlog of chicago people and some non-Chicago people to interview, and I know people who know other people, etc. Thanks again.

There's some here
but the sequence isn't close enough together for the ones i remember
https://www.scoottrader.com/four.htm
There definitely was not any quantity of mint four voices sold on ebay. If you believe that to be true, it's definitely the Four Tracks on Mandingo.
That link you just provided of the four voices was of different copies from different sources from different sellers in all sorts of different conditions.

Garethx: not disagreeing with anything you are writing, just pointing out that although it mostly published songs recorded by motown artists, it did do some publishing of non-motown songs by independent songwriters, so not all songs were recorded by or even intended to be recorded by motown artists. I appreciate all the context you added -- I didn't realize that they had some songwriters under exclusive contract. I also never knew about the other publishing companies motown established with other goals. Thanks for all the details.

you should always put in a dispute before 45 days, even if it seems like you are having an agreeable exchange with the seller, you can tell them that you don't want to lose the ability to do so and that you're not planning to escalate it to a "claim." Then you at least have the option of escalating.

Jobete was motown's publilshing arm but it was operated as a publishing company and not just a company to publish motown songs, right? Just the other day someone was telling me that he wrote some songs in the late 70s that Jobete published. I don't know if there was any specific intent for a motown artist to record them. I always assumed that the valaquans, for example, was never recorded by or even intended to be recorded by a motown artist.

i just started a thread on this on another message board. I asked for a photo in a polite message and didn't get a response. I'm calling ebay tomorrow to see what I can do, since reporting them using the ebay interface is impossible or useless.
I also requested this person's phone number so I can call him. If he's going to lie, at least he needs to have the balls to lie when confronted on the phone.
I wouldn't be very upset by a single one of these, I would just blow it off (which I have been doing), but I have had a lot of instances of this recently and I would like to have a generic set of actions to take on each one.

Who Is Or Was Mr Wiggles Or Even Little Tommy For That
in Look At Your Box
There was also an unrelated Little Tommy in Gary / East Chicago, Indiana. He is Tommy Payton. He cut a few records in Chicago and then went to LA, it's the same guy as on Tangerine (which I'm still looking for a stock copy of...).
