peabody's closed all of a sudden very recently, maybe a month or two ago. the guys are still doing records but don't have a storefront anymore.

Been to Chicargo twice on my second time there remember driving south side Chicargo when spoted a lorry trailer parked up which was full of vinyl pulled over straight away to investigate Nobody around the trailer The trailer was next to a charity outlet We enquired at the outlet to be told that all vinyl collected over a month period is loaded onto the trailer and sold They let all 3 off us go through thde trailer and hey only decent 45 we found was Nolan Chance just like the weather Though been through some rough areas around Chicargo and been stared at and called honkies would definatly go back again as Chicargo is a grea city

you actually got called a honky, and more than once? that is pretty funny. the only time i ever got called a honky was when i used to live next to this school for behavior disorder kids, they would cuss and call me a honky, it was pretty funny.

i got a copy from that seller and there is an "H" stamped in the deadwax. It clearly has the wear of records that have been moved around a lot, doesn't look clean enough to be a boot imo.

There were oldies series out on various labels all through the '60s and '70s to feed the US market (Oldies 45 from VJ), Modern Oldies, Chess, Lost Nite, Lana, Era Oldies, Collectables, ABC(Goldies 45), Bell Oldies, Atlantic, Motown Hitsville, Eric, Hi-Oldies, Capitol Starline Series, UA Oldies, King(Gusto), Scepter-Wand Forever, etc.

BTW, The Imperial Wonders pissed off the Solid Foundation people by signing a national deal with Musicor in 1973.

So the label signed up a random group, called them the Four Wonders, cut tracks on them & released a 45.

Seems (as always) that the label owners wanted everything their own way & got frazzled when a group did the dirty on them.

I noted this above -- the four wonders aren't even from ohio, they were from indiana

this is a big subject on this other message board i'm on that's filled with dealers. apparently it's some incoherent rant about racism and collectors or something like that. there's some special members-only group you can join on the internet that gives you a huge blocked bidder list that corresponds with his bidders.

I GET HIT 4 TIMES by the fake reggae bidder, to let others know hes a shit i give him positive feedback and state well done you have faked bid another item again(this lets others know not to expect payment,,sensible i think) e bay downgrade my compliance rating and tell me if i do this again i am suspended, when i ask why they tell me the buyer complained about me(dont all laugh at once this is 100% true

yeah, it's against ebay policy for sellers to write negative comments as positive feedback. When they first disabled negative buyer feedback there was a moment from sellers to put de-facto negatives saying "NEGATIVE: ....." in the positive feedback, so ebay made that rule.

I would assume the reggae situation has resulted in a different behavior on the bidders part, where they assume they will have to pay their max (versus it being a proxy bidding system), so they bid lower and accept second chance offers more often.

if they're in the same country as you and aren't a fake bidder (like the reggae guy) but instead a newbie / flaky person / computer illiterate, request their contact information and call them and politely ask what the deal is. Getting up in people's face is often effective.

not that it makes a difference, but i have this on both a blue label and a yellow label. there is one more record on this label, a gospel record by a female artist that I can't remember right now, Dorothy Ward????. Gregory Washington played guitar on many chicago soul records and his sister is Cynthia Washington, lead of Silk on Nation.

the backing band is amazing. They're so cool . They look kinda bored yet they're laying out one of the greatest rhythms in the history of soul music. (Archie Bell & his Drells are disappointing IMO)
