GIVE ME THE C.O.D.'S 'SHE'S FIRE' ANY DAY JT - HA! HA! THEN MAYBE FOLLOW UP WITH BOBBY KLINE AFTER ME LEGS FELL LIKE THEY'VE BEEN REMOVED FROM MY BODY! GRANT
  2. I GOT ONE OF SOULBID.COM. THEY DO LOOK O.K. PERHAPS SOUNDING A BIT QUIETER THAN A CRISP CLEAR ORIG 45 BUT CAN'T COMPLAIN FOR THE MONEY. I DO REMEMBER HEARING AN EMIDISC BEING PLAYED AT A SOUL NITE & IT DID SOUND PRETTY POOR.
  3. INDEED NOT A RARE ITEM, BUT ONE THAT ELUDES ME! AFTER A COPY OF THE MIRACLES 'IF YOUR MOTHER ONLY KNEW'- ANYONE GOT ONE (NO INFLATED PRICES PLEASE, IT'S XMAS!!!!!!) GRANT
  4. AndyB MAKES A GOOD POINT THERE THAT IF YOU REALLY WANT A RECORD ON EBAY & ARE PREPARED TO PAY A LOT (OBVIOUSLY WITHIN REASON) THEN ENTERING A DAFT FIGURE SUCH AS £999999 THEN U ARE LIKELY TO GET THE ITEM - JUST THAT DANGER OF BEING SUSSED AND BEING PUSHED FAR BEYOND YOUR EXPECTED LIMIT, I STILL STICK WITH PUTTING IN MY MAX BID (I.E. THE MOST I AM PREPARED TO PAY FOR A RECORD, AND LEAVE IT - HAVE A LOOK WHEN BIDDING IS FINISHED = IF YOU WIN IT, YOU WIN IT, IF YOU DONT NEVER MIND, ANOTHER WILL COME ALONG SOMEDAY!OTHERWISE YOU JUST END UP IN A DUTCH AUCTION WITH SOMEONE
  5. YEAH, KNOW THE FEELING GENE, GOT OUTBID ON LARRY TRIDER 'CARBON COPY' IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT - OUTBID BY 50 CENTS, IT WENT FOR $40.50! CAN'T BELIEVE U GOT JERRY NAYLOR FOR $25 YOU JAMMY ******!! ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVES!
  6. Ah, I'm not the only one who has an anti-ebay wife! Some good things (for me any way) - following won on ebay :- Jackie Follett dj $4, Willows - Outside The City $9, Betty wRIGHT EXPLOSION lP $15, D Wagner LP $10, L W John LP with 'I'm Shakin (King) $12, to name but a few, - few other 45s bought turned up in crappy condition (described as M- !), one LP turned up in 2 halves!! Made good bookends though.
  7. OBVIOUSLY BUYING / SELLING SOUL RECORDS ON EBAY IS A MASSIVE THING NOW. ANYONE GOT ANY STORIES TO TELL ABOUT THEIR EBAY EXPERIENCES, GOOD OR BAD, HORROR STORIES, EBAY I.D.'S TO STAY AWAY FROM FROM, BARGAINS, ETC.

I'VE GOT ONE ON A GOLD-ISH COLOURED VERVE FORECAST DJ COPY - ANYONE ELSE SHED ANY LIGHT ON IT?
  10. I personally dont have a problem with tracks being played from LPs so long as they are cred LPs (not compilations as such). I play a few tracks on my set for example The Tempests - Someday, stuff from Betty Wright LP (I have seen for sale for up to £50, got mine off ebay for $10!), I've also just got Little Willie John on a King LP containing the biggie 'I'm Shakin'. All good stuff, all originals so whats the problem? DJ's have been playin LP tracks since I went to Wigan, Searling was spinning Harley Hatchers 'Soul Hustler' from an Lp covered up as Al De Lory 'Discotec Alibi' (needs reactivating!!), another that springs to mind is 'Backwards Upside Down' by the Outsiders (like the Tempests 'Someday' never seen it on 45 - please correct me if I am wrong that I dont think they exist on 45. And by the looks of it, it looks like the only way I will hear that J Wilson - Open The Dorr..' track is by getting the LP (unless someone has the Aussie EP going cheap!! Grant
  11. Note that the Ringleaders 'All of My Life' is doing the rounds available in black and red vinyl? Is it a boot or legit limited issue?
  12. Thats right Greg - a lot of early Stafford sounds had previously been broke or attempted to be broke at the Casino such as Smallest Man Alive, also remember 'Stafford' biggies such as Betty Lloyd, Ray Agee, Executive 4, Chaumonts instr., etc being spun in the latter days of the Casino
  13. yeah seen it for sale a few times, cheers richard
  14. YEAH GREAT TRACK, BEEN PLAYIN MYSELF FOR A BIT TOO AT STOCKPORT GUILD HALL - CANT SAY I'VE HEARD HIS VERSION OF 'OPEN THE DOOR...' THOUGH, WHAT LP IS IT ON? WHILE ON THE SUBJECT - YOU MUST HAVE HEARD THE GREAT 70'S VERSION OF 'OPEN.....' BY BETTY WRIGHT ON HER 'EXPLOSION' LP ON RCA, ABSOLUTE BRILLIANCE. GRANT
  15. Just got hold of Bertty Wrights excellent RCA 'Explosion' lp from U.S. Some excellent stuff on there, with a great modern rendition of D Banks 'Open The door To Your Heart' on it. Anyone know if this ever came out on a 45 (maybe as a b-side?) thanks grant

total b******s!! - i sure hope that i am around when he plays eddie parker 'im gone' not heard that for years at a niter or soul nite. another gem on his playlist is little nicky soul - absolute stormer that u never hear being played, fantastic dancer - oh and not to forget one of my all time faves the cashmeres 'showstopper'. wont be able to make the first manchester niter mark but will be asking for the above at the next one mate. i dont think it matters how rare or expensive a record is as long as the punters speak with their feet and i cant see one record in mark b's list that doesnt fall in to that category. as mark b says 'keep it real'
  18. BRENDA HOLLOWAY DID A GOOD TUNE ONN MOTOWN CALLED 'LONLEY BOY' (SLOW VERSION OF ERIC MERCURYS 'LONELY GIRL' BUT EQUALLY AS BRILLIANT!). THE TRACK DID COME OUT ON A N SOUL MOTOWN CD VOL 2. THINK U MAY BE ABLE TO HEAR IT ON www.soulclub.org GRANT

I DID SEND TAPE OF IT (FROM WIGAN) TO ALAN RHODES AND HE CONFIRMED THAT IT IS ON PUMPKIN. HAD A LOOK FOR IT AT BLACK MUSIC FAIR IN MANCR ON SAT, BUT NO-ONE HAD IT (OR HEARD OF IT - EXCEPT FOR ADY PIERCE). ONE DAY IT WILL TURN UP I'M SURE (THEY ALWAYS DO!!) KEEP YOUR EYES PEELED MATE GRANT

  22. hi there not sure if it ios worth anything. I managed to get hold of a similar record on PYE (Helen Shapiro - Take Me For A While) German pic sleeve, on ebay for $4.00. I would imagine that many copies exist ?!! Can anyone else shed some light on this for our German soulfan? Grant

thanks paul - got it!! it was a JOTIS release and apparently also released on British Atlantic. Grant
  24. heard worse tha Barbra Redd being spun - although it still commands a few hundred quid or so, even if it were a tenner record it still deserves a play. keep your over-priced c--p thats being spun viz. futures, soundmasters (very ordinary 45),houston outlaws etc!!
  25. Cheers Mike - will try and send a recording over the phone, but is a very poor copy and may sound awful. It is a copy of a copy of a..........!! Hopefully someone may suss it though. Grant
