  2. Pulled some choons off the shelves, to let go, last week and had to spin a few cause I couldnt remember them! thats one of the pleasures of collecting. Amongst then I found a couple of B sides that have since found thier way into the play box, just wondered if this is a common experience, What did you find when clearing the shelves to sell?

Hi Geese, pulled many a tune out to sell and decided against it, either they jogged my memory on how long it took me to find it or like you said the flip side was awesome.

Good to see the Soul on Trent back in use, I used to have this on the sie panels of my scooter yes.gif

  3. Not sure that would fill the floor at some of the places I frequent any more.....maybe 35 years ago.....however:

    Its Beautiful - Ruby Andrews

    Shake Sheri - Hopkins Brothers

    Parliaments - Rainy Day

Sag War Fare - Dont Be So Jive/Girl You Better Change

Sir Joe - Nobody Beats My Love

Eddie Daniels - Is He Better Than Me

Just a few of the top of my head.......

    Best Russ

    Some fine choices here..

  4. Records that we now describe as Crossover have always been played on the NS scene. The term Crossover has been used since the mid 8ts at least, but to my knowledge were played alongside everything else, seperate room etc didnt come until later.

I'm sure that Chuck C, was played in someones bedroom at some point, therefore giving someone first dibs laugh.gif , but it was played at Soul Essence substantially before taking off 'massively' in NS Rooms, not saying it hadnt been discovered or hadnt had an odd play at Northern do's, but Soul Essence was where it was first aired on a regular basis & it was NOT widely known on the NS scene prior to this............so there tongue.gif .

There are lots of records listed here in peoples Top 5's as Crossover which deffo arnt Crossover as far as my definition goes, but I'm enjoying the lists & peoples choices anyway.

Now can we get back to the Top 5's pse.

    Russ

Just wondered what's your definition of crossover of Russ?

  9. From JM Auction - what is the record going to be!!!

On Thursday this space will be taken by a NORTHERN SOUL 7" LEGEND! It seems I've been waiting ALL my life to even see a copy, it's now in my hands and I'm almost suffering from premature.... death. Thrilled wasn't the word when a little old couple flew to England came into my office and politely asked if we would you like to auction this 45 for them. Good job those statins work, I was instantly thinking "do they do Tena pants for men? This was a proper NS "Tutankhamen" moment for me, hopefully it will be for you too.

This must be some record to get John going, he's had them all in his time..

  10. First time I sold up it was - Tommy Bush - I don't like it - Rika

Second Time - Major Harris - Call me tomorrow - Okeh

Third time - well I haven't decided that there will be a third time yet, but it would probably be

Jesse Johnson - Left Out - Old Town

  11. HI TED What a great time for buying records the 80s was, all the big early hits from the TORCH and WIGAN were so cheap and even cheaper than todays bootlegs, in them days, even the record dealers did not sell bootlegs, every box you picked up had a bargain, how i wish i had 1/5th of my US collection back now, but alas it's a impossible dream my mate, still Mick never got his mitts on your collection did he? Dave THE EGOTISTIC APPARENTLY???

Late 70's, early 80's you could also get copies of Joseph Moore and Calvin Grayson for a Fiver, then again it was 30 years ago laugh.gif
