  1. Correction, the 2nd bidder took it. Guess it's not going in my box after all!
  2. Hi Headsy, I did second chance offer with no response from the 2nd bidder. Cheers, Tim
  3. Hi All, I had a Christopher Cerf - Sweet Sweet Music Amy 45 up on eBay a complete timewaster bid on, never paid, never communicated and eventually closed their account. I've given this a few listens and quite like it. I don't recall it getting played out the last few times I've been out -- is it still in DJ's regular playlists? Cheers!
  4. Hello, I was digging in my record archives and found a stone mint Crest 45 for The Miracle of Love on Crest for Glen Campbell. I've seen it on Manship's website and a few others. Is it Northern, Popcorn, or would it be considered something else (e.g., blue-eyed soul/teener?). Cheers! Tim
  5. Here are a few of his clips. It's not bad! https://www.spinner.com/interface/mayer-hawthorne?icid=main|main|dl5|link3|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spinner.com%2Finterface%2Fmayer-hawthorne
  6. Hi Everyone, Whenever I can, I've picked up Westside Records CDs, as there are some interesting soul bits not found anywhere else. Does have anyone have a discography they could send or post? Many thanks, Tim
  7. Hi All, Before offering this record on eBay, I wanted to offer it first to Soul Source readers. I've got a stock Cajun Hart - Got To Find A Way, Warner Bros. 7258 w/Lover's Prayer. It comes in the age-appropriate Warner Bros/7 Arts company sleeve. The sleeve does have some curling on two corners and a corner that pops up, but this could probably be fixed. The labels are in M- condition. The 45 is M to M- and looks unplayed. The A side is absolutely beautiful with no marks or scratches at all. The B side is M- and has a couple of paper scuffs/storage scuffs, but it's a beauty. This is the third copy I've had. The first one, which was in VG to VG+ condition, sold about a year and a half ago for about $300. I had a second copy that sold around Christmas that was just a bit better that brought $353. Since the condition is as such, I'd like to get $450. I will consider sensible offers. The record can be sent via express mail in a heavy-duty 45 mailer with cardboard inserts with proper packaging, which has protected $2K records. Please PM me if you're interested. Cheers, Tim
  8. Hi Everyone, I've got a really nice stock Columbia Luke Williams - Who's Gonna Be First w/Your Baby's Bag for offer. It comes in an original Columbia sleeve, catalog 4-42997 orange label. The 45 is M- to EX-, being M- on A, with the B side having two light marks about 2" long (they are not feelable, so they might have been from storage. The record plays M-, plays loud and sounds great! Looking for $125 US + postage or best offer. Thanks!
  9. Here is the link to the article. It's a good article for someone who hasn't heard NS, plus it has a good bit of history about the Wheel not everyone may know. https://www.collectorsweekly.com/articles/an-interview-with-northern-soul-dance-club-proprietor-ivor-abadi/
  10. Hi Everyone, I know that eBay UK changed a while ago so that store listings were showing up with the regular auction listings. This is what is planned for the eBay.com stores on 30 March. I've always had reasonably good sales in the current store format, but I'm wondering what other users' experiences have been in the UK? I'm assuming the change has been for the good? Cheers, BMSF
  11. I clean all of the records I sell with a soft cloth with washing-up liquid with a dry soft cloth, as I play and visually grade all of the records.
  12. Hi All, Is there a listing anywhere of soul specialist radio shows, internet soul stations, etc. online anywhere? Many thanks, Tim
  13. Rosalind "Mallia" Franklin made her heavenly transition this morning (2/5/2010) at 10:25am PST. She went peacefully. Thank you every one for the love and prayers from all of her P-funk family, friends, fans & funkateers. She will live on this earth forever in all of our hearts. So play a Mallia song, a Parlet ...song or a P-Funk song today in her memory. She was the love of my life and I miss her forever. Mallia will be cremated. A private memorial service is being planned and will take place in Los Angeles.
  14. Sean, This is the band! Yes, their first release was on ASI.
  15. Hello Everyone, I have recently met with the lead singer of a 70s funk soul band from Minneapolis called Haze. Their first record and unreleased second record (as well as nearly impossible to find 45s) are quite collectible on the soul/funk scene, with copies shifting in the $75-$300 range for both LPs. Due to a record being saved from a dumpster and all sorts of amazing circumstances, the band has reformed. The band has remastered both releases for CD, with plans to re-release it on vinyl as well. I should make it clear that the band has no interest in signing to a label, but I have talked with them about getting the release out to the UK/Australia/Europe market. In meeting with the lead singer yesterday, I presented a few suggestions. One, I suggested the pressing of a 45 for DJs with an uptempo dance track (several songs they have recorded fit this description) with maybe a soul ballad/other track. They are interested in touring at some point (and I also suggested participating in SoulTrip 2011), but want to first focus on these two reissue projects. I mentioned to the lead singer that I would post something on SoulSource to see what thoughts/suggestions/ideas, etc. come forward. If a 45 is released, where does the wholelsale or retail price need to be, and the same for the CD? Thanks, everyone, and I look forward to hearing from you. Kind regards, Tim
  16. The Platters/Sweet Sweet Lovin/Musicor (EX- and sounds great!) Aaron Neville/She Took You For A Ride Aaron Neville/A Hard Nut To Crack Aaron Neville/Why Worry Eddie Floyd/I've Never Found A Girl (To Love Me Like You Do) Dobie Gray/See You At The Go-Go Peggy Scott & Jo Jo Benson/Soulshake Joe Tex/Skinny Legs and All Flirtations/Nothing But A Heartache Joey Roberts/La La La La La Al Wilson/The Snake Marry Wells/Ain't It The Truth Solomon Burke/Love's Street and Fool's Road Etta James/Breaking Point Jimmy McCracklin/The Walk Brenton Wood/Two-Time Loser I'm very new to the soul scene (just a couple of years, but I'm proud to add these to my box!) Cheers, Tim
  17. Hello Everyone, I just received this in an e-mail: Marshall Thompson, leader of The Chi-Lites, mourns the loss of his partner, Robert "Squirrel" Lester. Squirrel was an original member of The Chi-Lites. They have been sharing the stage together for the past 50 years and were about to celebrate their 50th Anniversary. Sad news, indeed.
  18. Hi All, I've been digging through piles of records the last few weeks and have found some great soul tracks that have been absolutely ruined by mainstream artists. Rita Coolidge/(Your Love Has Lifted Me) Higher and Higher Waylon Jennings and Willie Nelson/(Sittin' On) The Dock Of The Bay (on red vinyl!) O.B. McClinton/Who's Making Love Paul and Paula/You Send Me Anyone else?
  19. I've got a promo copy of this record, but I'd like a M/M- stock copy if someone has one. PM me if you do, please.
  20. I think it's an okay track, but I can't imagine dancing to it.
  21. Hi Everyone, I just listed a stock Cajun Hart Got To Find A Way Warner Bros.-Seven Arts Records 7258 Northern Soul record w/Lover's Prayer. The labels are in VG+ condition with light ring wear. It plays VG to VG+ (almost VG+ due to storage wear) and plays M- with loud, clear play. I've started the bids at $9.99 US. It's running 7 days and has a $599.99 BIN option. Here's the link: https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=360221278949 Best of luck, everyone!
  22. Hi Everyone, I've run across a Cameo 45 I was quite surprised by. It's La La La La La from Joey Roberts, Cameo 440. I'm just wondering if this gets played out often, as it's a great track. Many thanks, Tim
  23. Hi Everyone, Please find attached two lists of 45s. The vast majority of these are soul, northern soul and crossovers. There are a few other genres like psych, etc. on the list due to requests from a couple of mates, but most of what you'll find is soul. I can provide full condition details on the longer list. Most of the secondary list (part I) are new old stock 45s or close to it. On the second and third parts of those lists, condition will vary. I'm going to the UK this Wednesday, so if you're after anything, please let me know. I am set up to take PayPal and can send your orders from the UK to save you on postage. Thanks, everyone, and hope you see something you like! Tim 45 List (Part I).pdf Additional 45 List.pdf
