Rare Unknown Test Pressing Uptempo Soul 45 Listed
Hello, I pulled $2000 out of thin air. I always start my auctions at $9.99, but I'm trying to shift this before my trip to the UK next week, so I only ran it for 3 days so it would end before I go. The B side is definitely a ballad. The A side is sort of in the middle of uptempo and midtempo. Definitions can vary, so that's why I am asking anyone interested to request audio clips. Cheers!

Rare Unknown Test Pressing Uptempo Soul 45 Listed
Hi All, I have listed an unknown uptempo/mid-tempo unknown soul 45 with a soul ballad flip on eBay. This definitely sounds like a final version, as the matrix numbers seem to be set up for an A and B side. I have started it a $9.99 with a buy it now at $2000, but will entertain all offers. I have samples of both tracks. https://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=360212239854&ssPageName=STRK:MESE:IT Many thanks!

Unknown Soul United Record Pressing Double-Sider
I was digging downstairs and came across one of those great unknown soul 45s that I'm hoping someone might be interested in and could help with value and identifying the artist. The A side is I'll Love You The Same Way. It sounds like a 70s soul song, very mid to uptempo, while the B side is sort of a mid-tempo number (that side did jump in a bit, but I'll give it a clean). Anyone interested? I can likely post a clip later.

Rob's Records, Nottingham
Hi Everyone, I'll be coming over to the UK the first week of December and wanted to pop over to Rob's Records in Nottingham. I had a few questions before I go. 1) Based on the amount of records to sift through, if I got there 10ish in the morning, would I be through by 6ish, or would I need a 2nd day? 2) What are the hours of the shop? Is he open Sundays? 3) Does he take credit cards or just £? Cheers!

After 1,000+ Packages Mailed, 2 Have Gone Missing
Hi All, I went ahead and processed the refunds for both guys' parcels. I did ask them to refund the money if the parcels do show up. It's just not worth getting a negative. I wish the US Post Office provided some sort of tracking option for international parcels. There is nothing but a proof of mailing, which I would guess isn't enough proof to show shipment. Otherwise, the only other option is express mail, which starts at $28. Cheers, BMSF

After 1,000+ Packages Mailed, 2 Have Gone Missing
Hi everyone, Cheers for the kind words. True, 2 parcels lost in all of the ones I have sent isn't bad, but it's strange that after 2 years, these are the first disputes I have had. BMSF

After 1,000+ Packages Mailed, 2 Have Gone Missing
Hi everyone, I have been selling on The Bay for over 10 years and have sent thousands and thousands of packages all over the world. I've sent over 1,000 packages of 45s all over in the last 2 years. All of a sudden, I have had two parcels gone missing. One was 5-6 45s to Portugal with a total with P&P of about $50. The other was to a packstation box in Germany for about $20 for one 45. Both buyers have filed a dispute, which means I've got $70 frozen. This might not sound like a lot, but I sell records to provide extra income to our family, so it's a lot for us. Our postal system in the US doesn't offer any kind of tracking for first class mail international, so most people don't want to pay for Express mail to track, which I completely understand. Since there is no tracking, there is no way for me to prove I sent them, so I'm out the records and the seller gets their money. Ugh.

Rip - John Wilson - Last Surviving Member Of The Silhouettes
Hi All, I did a search before putting this up (and didn't find anything), but we've lost another soul great: John Wilson, the last surviving member of the Silhouettes has passed away. Here is the article: https://www.spinner.com/2009/09/29/silhouettes-member-john-wilson-dies-at-69/?icid=main|main|dl5|link5|http%3A%2F%2Fwww.spinner.com%2F2009%2F09%2F29%2Fsilhouettes-member-john-wilson-dies-at-69%2F Rev. John "Bootsie" Wilson, the last surviving member of influential soul group the Silhouettesdied at age 69. Wilson, a former lead singer who joined the group in1961, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, at his Spartanburg, S.C. home aftera battle with cancer and a kidney ailment, according to his wifePauline. A Philadelphia native, Wilson joined the group -- best known for its1958 chart-topper 'Get a Job' -- after the departure of the group'soriginal lead singer. Although Wilson didn't sing on the originalversion of the song, which was one of the first R&B tunes to crossover to the pop charts, he did re-record and release the song under themoniker of the New Silhouettes in 1968. During his tenure with the doo wop group, Wilson recorded notable songslike 1962's 'Move on Over (To Another Land),' 1963's 'Rent Man' and the1968 tune 'Not Me Baby.' The latter became a 1970s dance hit in the UKand ranked among Wilson's personal favorites with the group. Although 'Get a Job' remained the band's most enduring hit, ElaineLewis, the widow of Wilson's bandmate Richard Lewis -- who wrote thatsong -- told the Associated Pressthat the Silhouettes hit their creative stride under Wilson's lead."John's songs, I think, were the best ones," she said. "Somehow 'Get aJob' got all the attention, but clearly John was the best lead singerthey had, hands down. He had a marvelous voice." "He was so proud of that part of his life, his life as a Silhouette,"Lewis added. "He was so nostalgic about that period of his life, and hemissed his fallen comrades." After his career with the Silhouettes, Wilson moved to South Carolina, became an African Methodist Episcopal pastor and served at eightchurches since the '70s. His funeral was held Saturday.

Louis Chachere - The Hen Forte 45
Cheers. This is the only 45 I'm missing from the Forte catalog. I actually had the original on MJC, but it was pretty rough, so I sold it on (about $75 even though it was battered). I know Manship had the Forte 45 a few months ago, but when I went to check, someone had bought it. Oh well, I'll keep looking! Many thanks.

Unknown R&b Soul Acetate - Crying...anybody Know Who This Is?
Hi All, I found an unknown R&B soul acetate 45 downstairs last week simply titled "Crying." I have it listed on The Bay as an unknown. I've attached a sample of the track. Does anybody know who this is, or is this another one of those unknowns? It's very noisy, but the music is very uptempo and good. Thanks, everyone! BMSFCrying_-_Unknown_R&B_Sample.mp3

Ever Tried Cleaning Records With Vinegar?
No, but I've had good luck using a soft car cloth dipped in a solution of water and Joy liquid detergent (for dishes), squeezing off the excess water into the bucket, cleaning both sides of the 45 with it, then using a soft car cloth (dry) to clean it off. It works well and dries quickly.

Rip - Ellie Greenwich
I just saw this online. https://blogs.villagevoice.com/music/archives/2009/08/rip_ellie_green.php Loss on top of loss: Ellie Greenwich, the pioneering femalesongwriter who wrote some of the most flat out brilliant songs of the1960s, including "Be My Baby," "And Then He Kissed Me," "Da Doo RonRon," "River Deep, Mountain High," and "Leader of the Pack," died thismorning at the age of 69. Brooklyn born, Long Island raised, Greenwichreleased her first record at the age of 17, and got her start as asongwriter in the Brill Building, where Jerry Leiber initially mistookher for Carole King. Afterwriting "(Today I Met) The Boy I'm Gonna Marry" and "Why Do LoversBreak Each Others' Hearts?" with Tony Powers and Phil Spector,Greenwich married Jeff Barry in 1962. The Greenwich-Barry team had, within a year, written "Be My Baby" and "Baby, I Love You," asperformed by the Ronettes and "Then He Kissed Me" and "Da Doo Ron Ron,"as performed by the Crystals. Phil Spector co-wrote and produced allfour songs. The next year, Greenwich and Barry teamed with theShangri-Las mastermind George 'Shadow' Morton to pen "Leader of thePack," still one of the most stunning, bizarre, and creative songs inthe history of pop music. Barry and Greenwich would go on to divorce, but they continued towork together. Before the decade was out they'd discovered Neil Diamondand written "I Can Hear Music" for the Ronettes and "River Deep,Mountain High," for Ike and Tina Turner. In late '60s and early '70s,Greenwich released two solo albums and sang background on countlessothers, working with Sinatra, Dusty Springfield, and Bobby Darin. In aneat bit of trivia, she wrote "Right Track Wrong Train with CyndiLauper in 1983, a record that became the B-side to "Girls Just WannaHave Fun." A Broadway show, 1984's Leader of the Pack, memorialized her life and music, and in 1991, she was inducted into theSongwriters Hall of Fame. Her total body of work is at once one of themost appealing and also, at times, avant garde in all of pop music. Shedeserves a bit of your time today.

The Four Tops On Broadway
Hi All, I bought a record collection last week and found a copy of 4 Tops on Broadway. I absolutely love the Four Tops, but couldn't stomach listening to much of it. Is this a grower or just a pile of rubbish? Please discuss.

Northern Soul 45 Sold On Ebay, No Payment After 3 Weeks, Then Given Negative By Buyer
Hi All, He never did pay for the record and I never sent it to him. I never figured out how in spite of a NPB that he was able to leave feedback. He paid for 0 records and received 0, so it worked out in the end.
