Billy Ray Charles On Miss Butch Records
Hello Everyone, I was digging through a recent pile of records I bought and found a copy of a New Orleans soul/modern soul 45. I can't find any information on it. It is in M- condition. It's on Miss Butch Records, catalogue number MB-227 from Billy Ray Charles (it's a Jimmy Lewis cover) of Sweet, Black and Hot w/Shakin' My Shaker. Has anyone run across this? It has great vocals, great lyrics, but it does have a (ugh) drum machine backing him. Thanks, everyone!

Betty O'brien And Johnny Oliver - Is Johnny Northern?
Hello, I found a couple of Liberty 45s downstairs and wanted to see if anyone had an idea of value. The first is Betty O'Brien F-55434 for Money Honey w/Why Me? This is absolutely mint and unplayed. I did see a couple other Betty singles, but not this one. The other one is Liberty F-55349 for Johnny Oliver for Mail Man, Where's My Check w/You've Got Reap What You Sow. I'm not sure this is Northern. If it wasn't unplayed, I'd give it a spin. Any help would be great. Cheers, all! BritMusicSoulFan

Dino Bazan & The Dell-tones Jox Northern Soul 45
Hello All, I was having a rummage downstairs and found a record I wanted to check on value/pop out here to see if anyone fancies an offer on it. It's from Dino Bazan & The Dell-Tones, a Northern Soul on Jox Records out of San Antonio, Texas. There's a tiny bit of light ring wear on it and a promo stamp on b. This record is in EX- condition visually and plays M-/EX- and sounds great. I've attached a photo of each side. It sounds great! Hope to hear from you.

Anyone On Here Fancy Motown As Well As Other Northern Soul?
Hi All, This question popped into my head whilst I was listening to Marvin Gaye & Tammy Terrell doing "Your Precious Love." Some great stuff. Marvin Gaye's "What's Going On" is way up high on my list of all-time brilliant releases. I do really love the obscure Northern Soul, but I'm a sucker for the Motown as well. Your thoughts?

The Jelly Beans - You Don't Mean Me No Good
Hi All, I was having a chat with someone a few weeks ago and showed him a promo copy I have of The Jelly Beans - You Don't Mean Me No Good. He mentioned this was the first song that was played at Wigan Casino. I've dug around online a bit and didn't see anything about this and just wanted to come here for the facts to confirm. (I've probably given away the fact I'm fairly new to Northern Soul.) Many thanks. BritMusicSoulFan

The Mods - Dry My Eyes Fona Dj Copy - Chicago Label
Hi All, I found a great Northern 45 rummaging through my records downstairs. If anyone could let me know values/make me an offer, that would be great. There are some sort of white spots on the upper left-hand corner of the 45 showing up on the photo, but they're not on the record. The a-side label is in VG+ condition. There's a light X in what appears to be grease pencil, a very tiny stain and some very light ring wear. The b-side label is in VG+ condition with light ring wear. The 45 grades between VG and VG+ (almost VG+, but not quite there) due to light marks on both sides. The 45 plays M-, however and sounds great. I would imagine there aren't that many DJ copies out there for this label. Hope to hear from you! Many thanks.

The Originals - Baby I'm For Real (written By Marvin Gaye)
Hello, I have a 45 from The Originals for Baby I'm For Real w/The Bells on Cobra Records (C 2500). The labels are in VG+ on A with a bit of light ring wear and a pen squiggle, while the b-side labels are M-. The 45 visually grades VG+ and plays EX-. Anyone have an idea on value/interested? Many thanks, BritMusicSoulFan

Maxine Sellers - Some Kind Of Fever 45 Value?
Hello Everyone, I've got a Maxine Sellers - Some Kind of Fever (Pray For Rain) Challenge promo 45 that's pretty close to mint. I've been trying to get an idea of value. I've had someone offer me almost £30 for it -- is that a good offer or fairly low? Thanks, everyone! BritMusicSoulFan

Maxine Sellers - Some Kind Of Fever Challenge 45
Hello Everyone, I've been digging through some 45s this morning and came across one I wanted to get everyone's thoughts on. It's Maxine Sellers on Challenge Records, and it's a promo copy white label 45. The a-side is Some Kind of Fever (Pray For Rain) w/Women Enough. This one's a toughie for me. It's so close to Northern Soul for me. It's got great vocals and horns on both sides. Any idea if this is some undiscovered Northern Soul gem? It looks EX- and plays EX-/VG++. Value? Love to hear everyone's thoughts on this one. BritMusicSoulFan

Brenda Southall - I Be Somebody 45
Hello Everyone, I was digging through a stack of 45s downstairs and found a funk/soul (not really northern) for Brenda Southall for I Be Somebody/I'm Just An Average Girl (featuring the Dallasites. This is on Doin' Our Thing Records, which is out of Dallas. It's a very cool soul/funk 45, but it's seen its better days. It's in VG- condition. The labels are in VG condition (label wear). The 45 plays VG (sounding like popcorn). Any ideas on value? I can't find anything online. Many thanks, BritMusicSoulFan

The Executive Branch - Love Made It All Express 45
Hi Everyone, I just came across a fairly scarce 45 in digging through one of my boxes. Any ideas on current value/anyone fancy making an offer? This is Love Made It All w/Peace of Mind (It's Just A Matter of Time) on Express (number 300). The 45 labels are in M- condition. The 45 visually grades EX-/VG+ but plays M-. Let me know if anyone's interested! BritMusicSoulFan

Manchester New Century Hall Record Fair
Hello All, I had posed this similar query a few months back but am now looking at flying over to be a dealer at a Manchester show at the New Century Hall, as I can stay with a mate and save £ on hotel expenses. I'm considering sorting out and bringing a load of reasonably priced and some blue-chip Northern Soul, crossover, funk, and other genres of LPs and 45s. I would obviously post a list here so everyone could have first dibs/reserve records to pick up from me at the fair. I would think if I contacted the promoters they could hype this up a bit. Any thoughts, ideas? Many thanks!

Want To Do Soul Feature At My Us Record Fair
Hello All, I host a record fair in Minneapolis-St. Paul, USA we hold every other month. I've been wanting to do a Northern Soul/soul feature at some point in the near future (perhaps the week before the Goldsoul event in Chicago in 2009, perhaps?) I know there are a lot of cities in the States that have a reasonably active soul scene, e.g., Seattle, etc., but not sure what the interest is here. Has anyone had experience doing this type of thing at a record fair in Europe/UK/Ireland, and if so, what has their experience been? It'd be great to have someone like Reg do a book signing or something. Any thoughts, ideas, anyone? Just wanted to throw it out there. BritishMusicSoulFan
