THE SOUL BOY GENERATION: The Soul Patrol (episode 5)
The history of the Soul Boy movement is chronicled through interviews with the scene's DJs, artists and fans. In the 70s teenage race mixing was a rarity. Their music, culture and clubs were mostly separate. But a group of black and white kids from London's suburbs discovered American soul music and became known as the Soul Boys. The music blended fast danceable beats with brass sections and jazzy base lines. Interviews include: Chris Hill the originator of the soul boy scene, DJ Tony Monson, DJ Terry Jones, DJ Robbie Vincent, Edward Amoo "The Real Thing" and many others.
