Curtis Mayfield has figured prominantly in soul music for over four decades now.

The creative force behind The Impressions, Mayfield was responsible for great songs such as "People Get Ready", "I'm So Proud", "We're A Winner", "Choice of Colors", and "Mighty /Mighty (Spade and Whitey". Going solo in 1970, he released a string of superlative and influential records including "Roots", "Back to the World", and the legendary "Superfly" sound track.
