Help In Identifying 80's Soul Track

I have been trying to find a song that has the lyrics as best as I can remember something like this in one verse:

Didn't you ever learn, when you play with fire you get burned...

Maybe one day, she is going to have to hurt you, break your heart and leave you for another..

I thought it was perhaps someone like Kashif but that doesen't seem to be the case.

Probably early 80's rather than later.

Any input appreciated!

I have typed every variation of the lyrics into that without luck! There were a few leads but all dead ends!

Probably wasn't that much of a commercial success but those lyrics were imprinted on my brain from the first time I heard it!
