December 9, 200915 yr Try also Don't forget the MotorCity (https://www.dftc.info) a comprehensive listing of almost every Jobete recording up to 1970 or so with writers, producers, date of recordings, covers, etc...

December 14, 200915 yr That's my site (the Motown Junkies one, I mean), I'm glad you like it so far. I was wondering why I was getting all these hits from this forum until I saw the thread! I haven't really publicised it yet, because I've only been doing it a few months and a lot of these early Motown records don't have that much in common with the later Motown Sound stuff, and don't really appeal as much to soulies such as myself (though there are some cracking doo-wop and early rock & roll/R&B records in there nonetheless). It's going to take me years to finish it, but it's been quite good fun so far. The Swedish guy who runs the Seabear Studios site (Lars Nilsson) is also one of the world's great collectors of Detroit soul 7" records; he provided loads of label scans from his collection to the compilers of The Complete Motown Singles series, as well as loaning them actual copies of several of the early singles Motown couldn't find master tapes for (and a 70s Arthur Adams one IIRC). He's a legend, as is Keith Hughes (who compiled Don't Forget The Motor City, which used to be a printed reference work before going online, and who co-wrote the liner notes for the aforementioned Complete Motown Singles box sets) - but I wanted to do a site a bit different from theirs, one that actually talked about what the records were *like*, and gave a bit more than the bare facts.
