Just dug this out of my collection:

By the prolific Brazilian artist Roberto Carlos. Sublime. I reckon this would have done quite well on the rare soul / crossover scene if it had been translated into English and covered by a black american artist.

I think someone told me that Jorge Ben, "Taj Mahal" saw some action at the Mecca or somewhere. Also, the Spanish side of Two Tons of Love, "What Good Am I?" comes to mind.

Any more?

There's a Julio Iglesias track comped in some funk cd. I personally hate those two.

There could be loads out there, but most of them fitting more the mod / R&B scene...

Yeah. That's just a cover of a Barry White record -. I've got Bruce Forsyth doing "Love's Theme". I meant original songs, not non-English versions of originally English language songs.

OOOh...I quite like that!...no good to me though as I always sing along when I'm dancing and my Portugese ain't what it should be!

But you are right...nice backing track with a nice 60's soulful voice could have gone big I reckon!

Just thought of another one. There's a right 60s stomper by the great Michel Polnareff. that I've got. It's getting late now but I'll try to locate it and post up tomorrow.
