Lena Mone - hold me close on ASP I got this and although my copy has a nasty scratch think is a great Detroit dancer.

The other side is good Funk and was comped on an lp a few years ago but I can't any mention of this side anywhere. Sorry about condition but it really gets going after 01.55 when the click stops so give it a chance..

Has it been overlooked? Is or was it played.

The backing sounds like the Avalanches in places.

Not for me I'm although I have heard a million times worse.

this record is in no way a dancer...........it,s in that kind of 60's white singer style,but deffo not a dancer........where would that get played?..........good on ya if you like it ................me......it,s pants atb pegg

I think this is one of those that would be easy to pull the needle off after 10 seconds but surprisingly gets a lot better if one persevers with it.

For me the vocals on the first 45 seconds sound a bit kooky and kill it. After that it gets better until around the 2 min mark and then the vocals become very, very good.

As others have said I've heard many that are far, far worse.

I agree on all points it does need a full listen. Think at the 2 min mark the production kicks up a gear and LM's vocals as you say are very, very good.

Not sure about the 'white singer' comment take a listen to the funky side 'you stay on my mind' on refo for confirmation.
