Posted February 21, 201114 yr my wife bought a record for me around 3 weeks ago, from the UK. It still hasnt arrived yet. I was wondering if this is typical? I haven't bought anything from the UK in a long, long time so I have no idea. Just hoping it didn't get lost somewhere along the way. thanks and regards, Jacob
February 21, 201114 yr Should normally be about a week - BUT parcels are often taking much longer recently to the US, thanks to the 'war on terror', and the US customs' need to check each parcel in case it contains a dirty bomb, or something.

February 22, 201114 yr I mail books to the US regularly and a lot are taking 3 weeks plus due to the extra security at customs. If it was packaged well with correct clear addressing and the relevant customs slip it should be with you shortly

February 25, 201114 yr I've had a first from our friends in Customs after years of records shipped from the USA. A record I paid $10 for and had a $5 value on the parcel could not be delivered unless I paid £16.75 duty on it. When I asked the Post Office they said that Customs randomally slap a charge on parcels. Has anyone else experienced this and is this shape of things to come as the government seek another revenue making stream ? Cheers Pat

Cheers Pat I think it's a fact Pat that in general most times we get away with it. Here's all the gen on it. Look at 2.2 https://customs.hmrc....000014#P26_2855 It may well be that Gov are tightening up and becoming less and less random, it wouldn't surprise me. What does surprise me, and obviously yourself, is the low value on your packet and being hit for it.
