It must have been back end of last year when I was reading Mark Bicknell's thread 'Are there any Scientists Of Soul Kashe white demos?'.
Meant to reply and even got around to scanning a couple of items to include, but time moved on and it quietly slipped off my to do list.
Saw these 2 scans lurking about yesterday and decided to make my move. Complete that circle Pearson. Finish that task.
Did a quick search through the Forums to discover it was November 2010 when Mark started the thread.
But the thread had been locked. No probs - start my own.
Danny White "King For A Day" / "Never Like This" (Kashe 443)
Alright it's not a white demo but it is date stamped - November 15 1969 - which is interesting and slots the label into a time frame.
The really interesting bit though is the original hand typed promotional letter that accompanied said record.
I already had the Danny White 45 as I collected the label but one day whilst trawling Ebay many years ago (possibly 10?) I spotted this Danny White record listed.
But what really caught my eye in the sellers blurb were the words 'with promotional letter included' ........Mmm sounds interesting me thinks.
I duly bid and won the record for $5 or summat. Turns out I was the only bidder.
I only bid on it to get my my hands on this letter.
I love collecting these bits of record company ephemera, they help to fill in gaps in the history of the music we collect.
onwards, derek x
Oh and to answer Mark Bicknell's original question:
No, I've never seen or had a Scientists Of Soul white demo. Would very much like one though.
I've had a WDJ of Richard Russell though.
Oh and these were the Kashe 45s listed in my old files:
