records pressed after 1980 were manufactured under a new process where the grooves are meant to wear faster as part of an attempt to encourage consumer audio tape purchases. to remedy this, one can use a no greater than 220 grade abrasive paper to even the peaks and valleys....

I tend to use a good quality floorsander on anything pressed after 1980 this usually works

Utter rubbish fortunately! Should have sent it on 1st of April. Its not even logical. Where did this come from?
