BROWN DOOR RECORDS the home of 70s Soul/Jazz excellence!
Despite the extravagant quality of it's product, sadly Brown Door was a short-lived label. But whilst in business Marvin Holmes's label provided the rare soul collector with a handful of pure-gems, every one crafted to the nth degree of distinction.
Before you today is the crown-jewel from that Oakland Odyssey in the standard of condition you would have expected to emerge from 1975 mailing from Daly City Bob, the man who first shipped this label to our shores.
Excruciatingly elusive, MINT and awaiting to grace any one of the 1000's of collections that don't have copy.
YOU WILL NOT FIND A FINER COPY - EVER!
Click the soundfile and taste this exquisite masterpiece of soulful dance, backed with a mighty slab of Bay Area Sister Funk.

The Heartbreaking Truth C/w Thank Goodness
Sublime Big City Beater from the team who did crafted so much "Brill Building" monuments, the EMBEE production team does it again. When the name EMBEEappears on a label you just know the grooves will spew powerful instrumentation, seemingly reserved for only "special" vocalists to ride upon.
This 45 is no exception; perhaps the least seen, most wanted and most highly valued of all EMBEE's accomplishments. Roland "Don" Trone and Claude "Juan" Johnson with their very last recording together, saving their best until last.
Click the soundfile to collide with tsunami of brass, then Righteous-Brothers-like the two vocals soar up above all instruments, and just keep climbing &climbing. Step aside all other duo's, these guys were another class!
As were EMBEE productions...

Bobby Wells
Be's That Way Sometimes C/w Recipe For Love
Currently top-lady DJ, DivaDJdi's favourite Northern Soul revival spin, she must be having a countrywide effect, because I heard another DJ spin this great tune again last Saturday night.
After years of being a dormant-NS-classic this is coming back with a bang and absolutely deservedly so. A Philadelphia vibe filled 1966 dancer just ripples it way around the room spreading it's Leon Mitchell feel-good factor. The result was a packed dancefloor...
So if you fancy a little one-up-Manship (no pun intended) how about spinning this 1978 UNIQUE 10" RCA studio direct-cut acetate.
An eyebrow raiser we think, and a perfect way to make a woman jealous.

Gloria & The T-aira's
I'm Satisfied C/w Running Out Of Time
Chicago's eagerness to harness the "Motown Sound" to bring a little of the Motor City's chart success west, created some of the very finest Northern Soul ever made.
This Jerry Mundo & Sunny Sawyer session totally encapsulates everything Motown; Both sides give up classic-style Northern Soul girl-group, but without Motown's commercial sprinklings; this 45 actually triumphs over Hitsville to deliver awesome real-deal Northern Soul.
Offering everything any NS collector could wish for, true-rarity, top-quality and stunning good looks!
Label connoisseurs will the appreciate this "arty" four coloured label design with Illinois mapped in red, gorgeous.
