Instantly interesting 70s club intro is swept aside as The Patterson Twins inject the level of soul that Southern Soul exponent Terry Woodford intended it to be sung with.
It’s one of those songs that just enters your heart on the first hearing and remains filed in the favourite part of you brain with your feet awaiting patiently for it’s next visit.
Blending Southern soul lyrics with a Bongo driven dance arrangement can be no easy task. A task made easier by the intensity of the lead vocals and the depth of the girl-group chorus. What you have is SOUL woven into a great dance production…
What more does a dance-floor require…?

Johnny Ace Mermorial Album
The mythical 1961 British original FIRST press!
The Godfather of Deep Soul - the first artist I heard perform what was to become the platform for the likes of Otis Redding, Percry Sledge, Arthur Conley to spring from.
This album is a tribute to a man ahead of his time, the founder of the aching soul ballad with “Pledging My Love” becoming a trailblazing standard for the emotional lament and arguably the birth of “Soul”.
This Memphian tragically died, accidentally in 1954, perhaps after that great recording he was “called” to a higher place.
Whilst collecting British release “Soul” albums there is no “higher Place” than this ridiculously hard to acquire rarity!
The fully laminated cover is immaculate, labels has a small initial on it, vinyl has some light insignificant surface blemishes, as you can hear it plays superbly clean, clear & true!

Metros Since I Found My Baby C/w No Baby
PIEDPIPER! in it’s most-desirable form
This is the seldom witnessed 1966 German press complete with a very neat & tidy picture sleeve.
I must have heard “Since I found My Baby” countless times in my life but the magic of the Pied Piper production always makes it a fresh experience, which brings seamlessly to my next comment; How darn good is the flipside which I’ve heard only a very few times in my time on the planet.
This tune is every note as good, has been undeservedly neglected over the decades of it’s twin evolving into a timeless Northern Soul classic. From now on none of us has any excuse for playing the obvious - flip it over and turn a few heads.
Then show the turntable voyeurs the label and that magnificent sleeve - that few collectors can boast of owning.

Sea Shells Quiet Home C/w Another Tear Must Fall
Utterly delicious Detroit exquisitely constructed by the one and only Mike Terry. Surely only “the Sax-God” could weave such as eerie atmospheric girl-group session and still make it a truly enchanting Northern Soul winner.
It has been quite some while since I’ve seen or heard this truly beautiful tune and how welcome is it, to my ears this 45 never received the full attention it deserved first time round in the 80s, surely a strong renaissance beckons for this Terry-tantalizer from the top-drawer!
