A thread or two here already I think. I was there in April when we were on a road trip from Memphis - Nashville - Charlotte and returned there again at the end. We had a great time there.

 

Tourist-wise, Beale Street and BB Kings is kinda obligatory, as is of course the Stax Museum / Soulsville Foundation, Sun Studios and Graceland. We stayed in a few of the hotels in the area in town and somehow came across a low key KKK rally parade right past one hotel. Lorraine Motel was closed for refurb when we were there.

For night time fun check out the rum boogie on Beale - they play stax hits live and the pulled pork sandwich is amazing !! James govern band was the resident band and the keyboard player toured with willie Mitchell !! Loved my time in Memphis .
