Jimmy Scott
It Rained 40 Days & Nights C/w Nobody But You
The extremely elusive press with “Nobody But You” flipside.
Headed up with the classic Joshie Jo Armstead Northern Soul favourite “40 Days & Nights” that both Little Jimmy Scott & Garland Green recorded to great effect, standing the test of time and still considered an inspired choice whenever the imaginative NS Jock drops the needle on it.
But what impresses us about this rare release (only own 2nd copy this century) is the killer flipside that just drips with the potential to rise up as a previously overlooked Northern Soul gem.
Benefiting from as a hybrid of Chicago and Detroit influences, Mike Terry’s co-production with Mel Collins draws from the Motor City Groovesville recordings, exhibiting those enchanting highly pitched girl-group choruses meandering through the piano-charged rhythm. This is a melting-mid-tempo that creeps up on you, as it amplifies excellence the longer it proceeds.
Tunes of this calibre that take a couple of listens before your hooked, are invariably the one you cherish the longest..
This b-side is just drenched in every ingredient you could ever wish for in a tune - and it’s no easy find, with a big plus of an A-side that just speaks for itself - an enduring Northern soul classic that has never been bootlegged or re-issued.

Looking For A Woman C/w Two Great Lovers
We kid you not this acquisition is from a collection were most-all of his records were gathered Mint during the late 60s and early 70s and never-ever played!
A man who filed labels and only played his beloved Doo-Wop. From the same source as that magnificent Tong Hester on Giant emerged last month. This example of rip-roaring Northern Soul is also MINT and we believe the soundfile your about to hear is the very first time it had been played.
Nuff said - the music and the label scan do it all…

What'cha Gonna Do
on 28th September 2013 it’s the 50th anniversary of “Soul” all niters with the Twisted Wheel opening it doors on a Saturday night to finish 8 o’clock in the morning.
What better way to celebrate this groundbreaking event that pioneered the birth of Northern Soul, than winning one of the Manchester Clubs all-time anthems that is still rockin’ the house today.
This is an incredible “as new” flawless 1966 UK press - you will NOT ever see a finer copy for sale!

Sam Butler
I Can't Get Over (loving You)
Seldom seen 3:25 12” PROMO variation with ultra high 33rpm fidelity. Loud, clear with unparalleled clarity. Capturing every tremble of Sam’s empathetic transmission of his hopelessness.
Real-deal soul with no hint of any commercial influences whatsoever to hinder the building of the story how “He Can’t Get Over Loving You” served with conviction and huge measure of distress.
Truly AWESOME early 80s Soulful dance, lifted yet again by a divine girl-group chorus.
Condition is near perfect…
