Volumes 1 & 2 of "Motown Memories" UK Tamla Motown compilations, which show someone over here really DID have their finger on the pulse back in the late 60s. Look at the tracklistings - especially volume 2 (from 1968) - Barbara McNair "You're Gonna Love My Baby", R Dean Taylor "There's A Ghost In My House", Carolyn Crawford "My Smile Is Just A Frown", Mary Wells "When I'm Gone" (great version of Brenda Holloway) etc etc Vol. 1 Spinners "I'll Always Love You", Velvelettes "Bird In The Hand", Elgins "Put Yourself In My Place" plus sleevenotes by Dave Godin. Like a wee time capsule!
