(I only ever played the slower “losing your mind”, but I’ve recently been introduced to the pacier flip “sake of love”, 2 sublime crossover sides on a gorgeous white demo that reminds us all to flip these things)
Jimmy McFarland – Lonely lover – RPR 108 M- £350
(I’ve traded in my demo, but in the process acquired 2 stockers, can’t keep both so one of the pair is up.For many years, the harder format.I got hooked looking at that sky-blue label with a hint of red in it, something very appealing about it.Hollywood label, Jobete brilliance, and who was Jimmy McFarland, appears to be his only release.Light label discolouration as if it’s rubbed up against something red)
Ronnie McCain – This time I’m gone – Triode 116 M- £250
(You could be forgiven for thinking this track isn’t going anywhere on the first strings at intro, but premium crossover soon kicks in on this delicious uplifting dancer, which is going to grow and grow)
Debora Healey – Don't do nothing I wouldn't do – Wheelsville 104 Ex £125
(Very hard number on the label, rarely seen for sale, refreshing early femme Detroit, digits on label)
