All are in Excellent condition unless otherwise stated. The YouTube clips are not my records, I've included them to remind you how good these sound, or to treat your ears for the first time. The records I'm selling here are in the pics. Do please read the T’s&C’s at the bottom if you want to buy something
The Intrepids – After You ‘ve Had Your Fling – Columbia demo £25 soaring strings ‘n horns 70’s shuffler. I’m pleased to report this record maintains the tradition of 70’s group soul and contains occasional lyrics of utter gibberish but which sound like ancient wisdom from the Gods, on account of the bass singers deep voice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BED-qPkrPkY
*** SOLD ***Jimmie Bo Horne – If You Want My Love – Alston £25 timeless crossover everyone but everyone was happy to embrace; from rowdy, tattooed 60’s newies men (and ladies), to Modern Soul wusses who wore ties https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p6UGdBssaCQ
Bernice Willis – Confidence / Breakfast in Bed – Okeh demo vg++ £20 wow, some real, downhome Southern soul grooviness on Okeh, no less! Funky, crossover goodness; and the Muscle Shoals boys’ ‘Breakfast In Bed’ that they wrote for Dusty Springfield on’t flip is most welcome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7sQjaKS4NWY https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=phJ2THnsuyk
*** SOLD *** Diane Cunningham – Certain Kind of Lover – Fontana £45 we’re down to Lidl prices for this gorgeous Chicago crossover gem. Windy City stalwarts Kenny Wells, Eugene Record and Johnny ‘Cam’ Cameron pop up in the credits. Hints of ‘Love Uprising’ can be heard by these ears, no bad thing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lOM7btQKKGI
The Lost Souls – It Won’t Work Out Baby – Glasco £25 lovely, sweet midtempo soul with a vibe that could get it dancefloor time these days https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znY6D-aem1M
May Wells – If You Can’t Giver Her Love (Give Her Up) / Cancel My Subscription – Reprise 1308 £50 written and produced by Bobby Womack in Muscle Shoals, this is a stunning version of Bobby’s original, from his best (IMHO) album ‘Facts of Life’. Who knew Mary could cut it as a sassy Southern gal? Magic midtempo dancer. This is the rarer release of catalog number 1308, which was recalled by Reprise before general release and has the magnificent Southern ballad ‘Cancel My Subscription’ on the flip. 1308 was later ‘reprised’ (geddit?) with another Womack composition on the flip, ‘Don’t Keep Me Hanging On’ , which gained a US-wide release and is much easier to obtain. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=czrlaOaGw4Q https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D8_CY7zowd0
Jackey Beavers – Lover Come Back / Someday We’ll Be Together – Sound Stage 7 £35 Jackey’s 70’s reworking of his Jaber monster and damn good it is too. ‘Someday’ sees Jackey again reworking one of his old tracks, this one more famously done by Diana Ross, and not at all bad it is, too! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lfL5pjsYdY0
