Every tune £50! Rarer 60’s Northern, Crossover and the odd 70 & 80’s Dancer: from the much loved to the still obscure; good, solid tackle, each and every one, and all at a very reasonable £50 each. And as if they weren’t already cheap enough, dig this:
BUY ANY 2 for FREE P&P BY SPECIAL DELIVERY OR INTERNATIONAL TRACKED & SIGNED
BUY ANY 3 for £135 AND FREE P&P BY SPECIAL DELIVERY OR INTERNATIONAL TRACKED & SIGNED
Otherwise, it’s £3 for 1 record by First Class Signed For/£8 International Tracked & Signed For.
All are at least VG++/Ex condition unless otherwise stated. YouTube clips are not my records, I’ve included them to let you hear something new or remind you how good these are. My records are pictured.
1 Bobby Hutton – Lonely In Love / You’re My Whole Reason – Phillips2 classy crossover sides, a snip at this price
3 Jeff Dale – A Suffering Pain / Our Love Will Grow Stronger – Atco demo snails paced, agonised, sombre soul. Slight tear on the label, quite possibly after Jeff tried to slash his wrists. Thankfully he jollies himself up on the jaunty flip!
4 Enjoyables – Push A Little Harder/ We’ll Make A Way – Capitol a contender for Bestest Double Sider of All Time Ever: ‘Push’ is group Northern at it’s best, with soaring horns and strings, akin to their Shrine monster ‘Shame’. ‘Make A Way’ is an atmospheric, mid-tempo delight. Now, hear this: the record has a very slight crack at run in for about 5mm (see pic) The crack has not worsened in the 30 years I’ve owned and played it; obviously there is an audible click for a few seconds but that’s it, otherwise Ex condition.
7 Blues Busters - Love Is The Answer – Minit demosomebody, somewhere, has a void in their lives that only this gloriously joyful dancer will fill. And at this steal of a price, they’ve no excuse.
8 Brotherly Love – Whole Lotta You In Me – Robinson & Son I remember this being the sound at a Southport Weekender as a new release, more DJ’s acquired a copy the longer the weekend progressed, come Sunday it was as hammered as the punters!
10 The Forevers – What Goes Around – Weisterrific, uptempo riot of a track, from Memphis – actually, Stax’s address at 926 East McLemore – but sounding distinctly ‘Northern’ in both senses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L6irFrpzsfc
11 Four Sonics – If It Wasn’t for My Baby/There’s No Love – JMC an old Dave Thorley – or was it Robin Salter – spin from Stafford, mid tempo modern groover from what may or may not be the Detroit 60’s group
*** SOLD *** 12 Irma Thomas – What Are You Trying To Do – Imperial demo classic oldie and none the worse for it, the sound we fell in love with as Youths…
***SOLD*** 14 Jeff Perry – Call On Me – Epic demomajestic, late 70’s mid tempo floater from one of those ever reliable names. And a tough one to find, especially at this price!
***SOLD*** 16 Ray Algere – In My Corner – Tou Sea demoan early find for me old duck Dean Anderson, I do believe. Straight outta N’orlins and sounding every bit like it!
***SOLD***17 Sam & Bill – I’ll Try / I Feel Like Cryin – Deccapounding, old skool, take-no-prisoners Northern stomperoonie. Big, bold ‘n brassy – what’s not to like? The boys get all sensitive with a fine deep soul wailer on the flip
18 Joe Moore – I Got My Sweet Baby / I Ain’t – VerveA staple from the Stafford tape-swappers circuit, connoisseur’s soul! Check out what John Manship’s has to say about the quality and rarity of this blue issue on the YouTube clip… J
19 Superiors – I Can't Make It Without You / Let Me Make You Happy – MGM another super rare issue, apparently! As with Joe Moore, check out JM’s comments on his YouTube clip!
20 The Universals – Without Friends / New Lease On Life – Modern democracking double sider, ‘Friends’ is criminally underplayed, driving Northern; ‘New Lease’ a more sedate mid tempo number
