Impressions - You ought to be in heaven - ABC 10964 WD M- £75
(There’s demos, then there’s West Coast demos, they always seem to be harder to find and like the Motown variants, these are the ones to pick up! What a tune, pulsating group soul, just brilliant)
Impressions - Sometimes I wonder - ABC 11135 WD M- £20
(Fabulous version of the Major Lance release)
Gene Chandler – Nothing can stop me – Constellation 169 WD M- £75 SOLD
(An outstanding tune, nice on stock, even better on the Star – Logo design, but here’s the apex format, a hard demo in prime condition)
Mill Evans – Got to have your love – Constellation 170 WD M- £60
(Another class demo on the label, super soulful delivery, a real catchy dancer, there is a 5mm hairline from the run in to the intro, it’s as tight as a gnat’s arse, so absolutely no effect on play, will accept returns on any record if not happy)
Continental 4 - The way I love you - Jay Walking 009 WD M- £175 SOLD
(A £1000 tune wrapped up in a £30 price tag, that’s for the common stock copy though, this demo is not a common find, a truly special way to have it)
Skyliners - Everything is fine - Jubilee 5506 WD M- £40 SOLD
(Wonderful underrated melancholy soul, makes you feel good without an ounce of emotion in the great vocal, stockers ten a penny, nice copy)
Winstons - Colour him father - Metromedia 117 WD M- £75
(Where the previous tune lacked emotion, this track delivers in bucket loads, far more crossover than the brilliant OC Smith version)
Major Lance – Investigate – Okeh 7250 WD M- £85
(Stunning demo, comes with a glorious company picture sleeve, the only way to keep treasures like this warm)
Edwin Starr – Agent OO-Soul – Ric Tic 103 WD Ex £300 SOLD
(Just don’t see it. Some sleeve marks, plays M-, one sided)
Rose Batiste – That’s what he told me / Holding hands – Ric-Tic 105 WD M- £300 SOLD
(Rarest white demo on the label, very minor mark on “told”, and 2 10p sized mild red stains. Who knows maybe picked up from the rare but more common stock copies it was filed next to)
Edwin Starr – Stop her on sight (S.O.S) – Ric-Tic 109 WD M- £80 SOLD
(Housed in a rare Swedish picture sleeve, you won’t ever see these 2 items coupled up again)
JJ Barnes – Real Humdinger – Ric-Tic 110 WD M- £65 SOLD
(Another anthem from one of our endearing stalwarts)
Velvelettes – These things will keep me loving you – Soul 35025 WD M- £50 SOLD
(The vinyl condition is great on this one of the most sublime Motown releases there is, some fool put 3 xol and a date to undermine its visual appearance)
