AL SCOTT: What Happened To Yesterday (GENUINE) VG++ £3000.

Absolutely beautiful copy of this mega collectible.  The VG++ grading is a deliberately strict assessment of a record which I believe was uncirculated store stock until I obtained it, and bears only light, isolated marks, very likely sustained during long-term sleeved storage only, otherwise looks basically like new.  I’ve only played it a few times (probably 5 or 6) while I’ve had it, so I think I can confidently say it is virtually an unused copy.

The labels are crystal-clean with no writing, drill holes, stickers or smudges, the only thing worth mentioning being a section at the bottom of the label where the print roller seems to have come up a moment too early during manufacture, leaving an unprinted segment – something which was there from the beginning and not a mark of wear.

Playback is faultless - check the video, taken from the copy for sale, to gauge play condition.

One of the most fondly remembered of Richard Searling’s late-Wigan exclusives, and one that has remained stubbornly elusive throughout the forty years or so since then. Generally agreed to be both the first and the rarest incarnation of this title and hence considerably more desirable than the “Mr Soul” variation, there are very few copies of this record anywhere at all, and from what I’ve seen, even fewer, if any, in this state of preservation.  Unless you already have a truly extraordinary copy of this, it may well be the best copy you will ever see of this one.

Soundclips are recorded on a Project Essential 2 turntable with Ortofon OM5e elliptical cartridge, and no noise reduction has been applied.
