Hi Folks

Eyes down again for another eclectic selection. Soundfiles available if needed. Here’s the rules:

  • postage to be added
  • payment by bank transfer or Paypal F&F (or add 4% to cover my fees please)
  • I generally operate a ‘first to pay gets the record’ policy – be clear if you intend to purchase

(1) Chuck Carter – “I Can’t Help Myself” (Brunswick demo) EX £40

(2) The Composers - “Chances Go Round” (Complex 3) EX £100

  • Superb double sider, funk-edged Northern backed with wonderful crossover mover

(3) Dean Francis & The Soul Rockers – “Tippin” (Hillside) VG+ £150

  • A firm dancefloor favourite with the funk-edged crowd and harder to find these days

(4) The Delshan & Love Children – “Angela Baby” (Jachelle) VG- £150   *****SOLD*****

  • Looks clean but intro is distorted
  • Fine for DJing though and a very tough 45!

(5) Fair Change – “Evil World” (Paduka) VG £75

  • Top drawer 70s ghetto funk
  • Would be EX but for some marks in the opening grooves which cause some clicks
  • Otherwise plays great

(6) Flame & The Sons Of Darkness – “Solid Funk” (P&P) EX £50

(7) Irma & The Fascinators – “Lost Love” (Scepter WD) VG+ £50

  • Just about makes VG+ but plays great
  • flip has a large surface mark and some marking on label

(8) James ‘Mr Fish’ Preston – “Keep Your Soul Movin” (Contrast) EX £50   *****SOLD*****

  • Bargain price for a current Dean Read spin

(9) Jay & The Techniques – “Dancin’ Mood” (Smash WD) EX £100   *****SOLD*****

  • In demand and great for the dancefloor

(10) J J Caillier – “Been Such A Long Time” (Maison de Soul) EX £50

  • Gritty NOLA dancer with huge dancefloor potential

(11) Johnny Mae Mathews – “My Momma Didn’t Lie” (Big Hit) VG+ £80

  • Hard, funky and full of soul

(12) King Ernest – “I Feel Alright” (Barry WD) EX £80    *****SOLD*****

  • Storming record and fantastic VFM

(13) Kings Of Soul – “Girl What Have You Done” (Down To Earth WD) EX £75

  • The demo with the same track each side, not the mega rare job
  • This is getting plays because it is a superb piece of funky soul anyway
  • Will only go up in value as people latch on

(14) Little Ron Johnson – “I Keep Telling You” (Hard Times) VG/VG+ £150

  • Visually borders VG+ but plays good enough to make VG+

(15) The Lost Generation – “You Only Get Out Of Love” (Brunswick WD) EX £75

(16) Mae Young – “Let’s Give Our Love A Try” / “The Man Puts Sugar In My Soul” (Big Mack) EX £150

  • Potent uptempo Detroit both sides

(17) Marc de Noel – “Heartaches” (d’arc) EX £75

  • Bargain price for this funk-edged underplayed uptempo oldie

(18) Marva Whitney – “What Do I Have To Do (To Prove My Love To You)” (King demo) VG+/EX £70   *****SOLD*****

(19) Philharmonics – “I Need, I Need Your Love” (Soulin) EX £130

(20) Willie Cager – “What Can You Do” (Contact) EX/M- £50

  • Fantastic funk-edged dancer backed with a stunningly good crossover

(21) Willie Hutch – “Your Love Has Made Me A Man” / “I Can’t Get Enough” (Modern WD) VG+ £50     *****SOLD*****

  • ‘Enough’ is a 100mph old-fashioned Northern oldie, but YLHMMAM is off the scale, underplayed mid tempo gritty brilliance, just listen to that intro
