Nu-Cleus – Needing a woman / It’s real love – Ffull Strength / EX / £600 (Killer 2 step backed with a dancer on a seriously rare 45. Dance side is pressed a little bit off centre, same thing with all copies I’ve seen. Same copy as appeared on last list, price lowered from £700.)
Blue Velvets – Summertime – Record Symphony Corporation / EX / £250 (The Billy Stewart classic made in a very soulful and lovely NYC disco way. A very rare 45!)
Percy & Them – Look in the mirror of my eyes / Trying to find a new love – Roulette / EX / £125 (Supperb double header from this talented group. White demo, both label sides have date rubber stamp, small writing and sticker.)
C.L. Blast – Love don’t feel like love no more / Beautiful lover – Juana / EX / £90 (Modern soul dancefloor filler. Flip is a version of the same song Joe Chapman did.)
Freda Payne – Two wrongs don’t make it right / We’ve gotta find a way back to love – Invictus / EX / £35 (Fab double header and one of the best things on the label. H-D-H magic!)
Cody Black – Keep on trying – Detroit Renissance / VG+ / £25 (Very nice and somewhat overlooked 1977 modern. Vinyl had a reaction with PVC cover but plays great.)
94 East – If you see me / Games – Numero / EX/NM / £15 (Previously unissued Prince related dancer hat will send any dancefloor into a blaze. Flip is great too! Black vinyl.)
True Pages of Life – Truth and love / long vers – 45 Record Shack / NM/EX / £8 (Previously unissued and awesome modern soul from the NYC Creative Funk label.)
Bar-Kays – Summer of our love – Mercury / EX / £5 (This famous group made a whole string of fantastic two step styled cuts. And this is my fave of the lot, cannot recommend it enough just soul music at it’s best. Clean copy complete with company sleeve.)
Sag War Fare – Don’t be so jive / Girl! You better change – Libra / EX / £100 (Likely the best crossover soul double header around. The 2012 Numero reissue with lookalike labels that is very sought after and only released in a box set.)
Vernon Garrett – Don’t do what I do / Instr – Watts U.S.A. / EX / £80 (Funky soul dancer, with a powerful instrumental flip. Same label variation as the scan on the below video.)
Carol Anderson – Tomorrow is not a promise – Soul “O” Sonic / EX / £20 (Atmospheric Detroit crossover, a personal fave such a powerful tune. Burgundy label variation.)
Icemen – How can I get over a fox like you – ABC / EX / £90 (1968 follow up disc to their 1966 “She’s a fox”. This is much better, group soul of the highest calibre. Small spot of gold paint on the flip.)
Train Robbers – Tricky dick – St. Simons / EX / £80 (Classic sweet soul, beware of the tricky dick! Blue, round sticker on label and looks like some label damage underneath it.)
Johnson, Hawkins, Tatum & Durr – You can’t blame me / Your love keeps drawing me closer – Capsoul / EX / £60 (Simply fantastic double header that getting harder and harder to pick up. Discreet stain on label.)
Marva Whitney – Your love was good for me / What kind of man – King / VG+ / £20 (Killer lowrider type of sound with lots of sublime qualities. Vinyl had a reaction with PVC sleeve but plays really clean.)
Willie Williams – No one can stop us – Studio One / VG+ / £120 (Great reggae disco take on the McFadden & Whitehead classic. Original late 1970s Jamaica Studio One copy. Label has some red discoloration.)
Hortense Ellis – Woman of the ghetto – Demon / VG / £10 (Superb take on the Marlena Shaw classic. 1970s jamaican press, label has sticker and writing.)
Van Jones – Time has made me new – Impulse / EX/EX / £400 (Nice very clean copy of this classic rare album title. Musically a mixture between disco and sweet soul, highlights in “Let’s go this go” and “Time has made me new”. Slashed the price £50 from last list.)
Ike Noble – Fresh start – Connowill / EX/EX / £275 (Nice clean copy of this superb title. With midtempo and slowies in “Your love” and “Love to be loved” and dancers in versions of “Another star” and “Never get enough of your love”.)
Yvonne Hodges – You never wanted me – Guinness / EX/VG+ / £80 (With the fantastic “Heavy thing to do”. Cut corner.)
Family – Music let it thru – Little City / EX/EX / £60 (With “Feeling what you wanna feel”. Cover back has a glued on “not for sale”-sticker and there’s a little wear on mid lower seam.)
Sharon Ridley – Stay a while with me – Sussex / VG/VG / £35 (With “Where did you learn to make love the way you do”. Vinyl has some scuffs, main track plays well. Cover looks decent but has complete upper seam split and a little wear to bottom seam.)
Clem Easterling – Just in time – Hep’ Me / EX/EX / £30 (Rare 1978 album on the well known Senator Jones label. The dancer “Half the way” is my personal standout.)
