All accounts of the similarities to Edwin Starr's "25 Miles" (and that song's subsequent Berns / Ragavoy songwriting credit) mention that Hoagy recorded it first.
Joel Selvin's book "Here Comes The Night" mentions the song. Hoagy's version was cut in New York
City in January, 1967 and was scheduled for release on the Bang label but was never issued.
