More 'cost effective' low rider gems

Recommended Posts

Some nice group soul lowrider tunes for your interest. Most if not all are old store stock copies.

Some of these also have great Northern and Crossover flips so you're getting a nice "twofer" for your cash money.

Payment as Payapl F&F or add 4%. Post 2.00 First, 3.50 Recorded, 5.00 worldwide.

PM to order or questions. YT clips are for reference.

1. Here's a lovely Chicago twofer from the great Bunky Sheppard's own label by The Sheppards themselves. The Lowrider tune here is a lovely group harmony effort "I'm not wanted", and for good measure it's coupled with a super crossover tune which has largely been ignored in "Your Love has got a hole in it". This is a store stock copy in NM condition at £20

2. Brief Encounter are a well known entity on the rare soul scene and their Sound Plus and Capitol outings command three figures when they become available. However, one that gets overlooked is a nice lowrider groove and is within everyone's pocket price wise. Here we have "I'm so satisfied" which has it all for me, with a flip that I seem to recall has been recorded by others but cant remember. An old store stock copy with a very slight storage dish which doesn't affect play at all. NM copy £15

3. Nothing much can be said about the Diplomats which hasn't been said already, who recorded many a fine tune which collectors seek. This tune cut for NY's Dynamo label is up there for me as one of their very best and 'I got the Kind of Love' is quite rightly now getting recognition on the Lowrider, Group soul and Sunday Session scenes. Here is a store stock copy say NM at £25

4. The COD's were one of Chicago's finest groups and had a slew of terrific records on the Kellmac label. Here's a great 'twofer' with the lowrider 'Pretty baby' combined with a pounding Northern tune ' I'm a good guy' which appears on dealer lists at £30. Here is a NM store stock copy for £15

5. Finally another mellow lowrider tune from the Final Seconds where the flip has seen some action on the crossover scene. For me it has to be 'Lost on a highway' all the way, but at ;east its another 'twofer'. Store stock copy with a very slight label bubble around the middle, but nothing to frighten the horses. NM copy £10
