Another mixed bag of the unusual and the not-so-unusual. Great 45s but I just never play them.

Postage to be added. PayPal F&F (or please add 4% to cover my fees) or bank transfer.

(1)    1619 B.A.B. – “World” (Brown Sugar) VG+  £35

  • ‘Bad Ass Band’ – bad ass record too; two brilliant early 70s funky soul sides
  • Would be EX/Mint minus but for a couple of surface marks

(2)    Chuck Carter – “I’ve Done You Wrong” (Bedford) VG+ some lbl wr  £30

  • Another fine overlooked dancer with R&B/funk overtones

(3)    Clarence Reid – “I Refuse To Give Up” (Wand DJ) EX  £40

(4) Don Hart-James Shorter - "It's In My Mind" (Cool School) EX £30

  • Superb slab of mid-tempo Detroit

(5)    Earl Lett – “Green Power (Part 1)” (Beantown) EX  £30

  • Get past the interesting 45 second intro and you’re rewarded with a powerful deep funk classic

(6)    Edd Henry – “Soul Socking Time Baby” / “You Made Your Bed Baby” (Heavy Hank) VG+/EX £30

(7)    The Eight Minutes – “Time For A Change” / “Oh Yes I Do” (Jay Pee) VG/VG+  £50    ***SOLD***

  • Uptempo deep kiddie funk/Northern dancer with a message – fantastic niter potential
  • Flip is a really nice lo rider – fabulous tune
  • Borderline VG+ condition – plays decent enough, especially on the uptempo side

(8)    Gino Washington – “Doing The Pop Corn” (Atac WD) EX £40

  • Superb wah-wah guitar driven funky R&B – perfect niter stuff with a real nice low rider flip thrown in

(9)    Joe McLean – “Lets Talk About Love” (Ego) VG/VG+  £30

(10)  Lee Shot Williams – “It Ain’t Me No More” (PM) VG+ £100

  • Tough to find in good condition, first version on first label

(11)   Little Jimmie Ballard - “Guilty (Of Love In The 1st Degree” (ABC WD) EX/VG+  £50    ***SOLD***

  • Frankly, there are so-called Northern Soul ‘classics’ which are nowhere near as good as this
  • Sounds like a 4 figure tune rather than 50 quid

(12)   Little K & His Internationals – “The Squable” (AW – Wilderness) M-   £75    ***SOLD***

  • OK, so it’s a silly record about a new dance craze but then so’s the U-Tee, the Stran among many others
  • It is also a superb atmospheric infectious funk-edged 60s dancer – perfect for today, as they say and it’s dead obscure and seems rare

(13)   The Lovations – “I Can’t Forget About You” (Cap City) EX/VG+  £50

  • Same backing as The Lovelettes on the same label, but this version is a bit grittier
  • Superb 45 and should get more plays

(14)   The Lovelettes – “I Can’t Forget About You Baby” (Capacity) EX/VG+  £30

  • See The Lovations above – both are superb records

(15)    Pace-Setters – “Push On Jessie Jackson” (Kent WD) EX £30

(16)    Peggy And Artie – “I’ll Be Leaving Soon” (King) EX/M-  £35

(17)    Pieces Of Eight – “Strange Things Are Happening” (Action) EX  £30

  • Love this record – full-on stomping Northern instrumental with drum breaks

(18)   Sebastian – “Living In Depression” (Brown Dog WD) EX  £40

  • Stunningly good slab of 70s funk with a message

(19)   Soul Shouting Tommy – “I’m The Man” (Anla) EX  £30    ***SOLD***

(20)   The Stepstones – “Leave Us Alone” (Big D) VG+ £40   ***SOLD***

  • Had plays but I never understood why this hasn’t been more in demand – it’s a stunning piece of  gritty moody mid-tempo dancefloor Detroit

(21)   Tiny Powell – “Get My Hat” (Ocampo) EX  £100

  • Gritty mid tempo pounding 60s R&B dancer – great record and not easy to find in good condition

(22)    Vick & John – “Lonely Man” / “Don’t Dish Out (More Than You Can Take)” (Allert) EX  £40

  • Two superb mid-60s sides – nice dancer on one side and then “Lonely Man” is a stunning moody mid-tempo slab of soul which would grace any set

(23)    Vickie Baines – “Sweeter Than Sweet Things” / We Can Find That Love” (Loma) VG+ £40   ***SOLD***

  • Two wonderful late 60s crossover sides – Sweeter is in-demand
  • Slight edge chip but nothing affecting play and otherwise a fine clean copy

(24)    Wallace Brothers – “I Need Someone” / “Airborne Shuffle” (Jewel) EX/M-   £50

  • Stunning 60s low-rider/beat ballad side with a great funk-edged Northern flip

(25)     The Young Senators – “Jungle” (Innovation) VG/VG-  £40

  • Deep funk classic – plays great
