A brilliant LP. I don't think there's a dud on it. Hard to pick favourites from such a good compilation with great stuff from Tommie Young, Betty Lavette and Doris Allen among others. I don't have access to the LP at the moment and would love to hear some sound files if you can post them, Mobbsy. There was also a companion Southern Soul Brothers album. Also very good.

I'm not a fan of female vocals at all but Lavette is something outside the box. One of my favourites, believe it or not, being the 60's r'n'b/latin fan I am, is You'll Wake Up Wiser.

There's something about her vocal that just sends me!
