Sunday - Where Did He Come From/Ain’t Got No Problems (Chess) Ex £225
Sunday Williams’ divine doubleheader in almost flawless condition! So so hard to find in anything but beaten up condition, last Mint- on Discogs making a whooping £300! Top side massive lowrider in demander that’s pushed the price of clean copies to crazy levels, flip it for some northern/crossover. Seriously, don’t sleep it will be gone by morning at this price in this condition.
Curtis Davis - Somebody/Your Love And My Money (Bev-Mar) Vg+ £100
I’ll probably regret this in six months because this is a relatively under the radar lowrider bomb just waiting to go off! Could’ve sold my last Mint- copy five times over at £150, this one is low end Vg+ with some hairlines but minimal, very light background noise here and there (clip below from actual 45). That intro is just so fucking good! Flip it for a drum heavy funk edged slab of R&B that is simply perfect for today’s upfront dance floors. Big US lowrider dealer has one on Cogs at at over £200 but he’s probably a few months ahead with that price, rest assured though this will be a £300+ 45 once it gets heard more widely.
King Davis and The House Rockers - We All Make Mistakes Sometimes/Baby You Satisfy Me (Verve) Vg+ £60
Absolute killer lowrider deepie of such quality I’m surprised it’s still this cheap given prices on 45s that are nowhere near as good! Flip is a storming, seemingly forgotten, northern dancer with legs left in it for enterprising DJs. Doesn’t show often either especially as an issue, last one I had was a demo and could have sold six or seven copies.
Paul Varisco & The Milestones - Hey Girl (Marceau from New Orleans) Mint- £50
The best of a very good bunch for me. Made an appearance on a recent Shades of Sorrow MixCloud and rightly so. Stunning lowrider ballad that is still cheap despite being a 45 that’s not easy to find. Not many of this quality still at £50 and under.
