Hey friends I bought a nice old Indian Sitar see photos  with a huge crack on the base (Toomba)

Repaired the base traditional method, but for the paint job, (not my field) what is the painting method, I think it's stained or some sort of enamel or lacquer, it seems pretty hardcore, like a nail varnish, I've sanded down my repairs but the original paintwork is unaffected.

So my question is can it be painted over at all,  (new.paint job) using a primer, or is a spray can best?

Its aold so I would t use an elec sander on it.

The areas where I've sanded the original paint isn't even scratched.

Thanks

Sean

Sometime ago on the TV series "Repair Shop" they carried out a repair on a Sitar, maybe try google for catching that series.
